Eighth-grade Bobcats endure rare loss

Clear Creek eighth graders found themselves in the losing column for the first time in years. This group of players has enjoyed sustained success over the years, but suffered a defeat at the hands of the White County Warriors last Tuesday.

Gilmer cross-country hits trail in Rome

Gilmer High cross-country runners were on the trail for a pair of races as they continued the season. GHS was in Blairsville last Thursday for the Run to the Hills 5K at Meeks Park to take on Union, Rabun and Fannin counties.

Gilmer High endured its third region softball loss at the hands of the Wesleyan Wolves. The two teams tangled in Ellijay last Thursday, and everything went right for the visiting Wolves. Gilmer was limited to one hit on the day.

Mountain Athletic Conference rec football action got underway as the Gilmer Bobcats traveled to Blue Ridge. There were six games between the two rivals last Saturday, and the visiting Bobcats earned two wins on the day.

Gilmer Bobcats blast LFO, 32-13

The Gilmer Bobcats did what they needed to do to earn the win. The football game last Friday at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe came after a rough week as the Bobcats dealt with illness. GHS got off to a shaky start versus the Warriors but were able to build a 6-point lead at the half.

Clear Creek throttles Rebels

Clear Creek’s offense roared up and down the field like a race car versus the Fannin County Rebels. The CCMS Bobcats ran through, over and around Rebel defenders, and the eighth-grade game was decided shortly after it started.

Lady Cats drop region games to Lumpkin, White

Gilmer High School has embarked on its region softball schedule and the Lady Cats were defeated in both games. GHS hit the road twice last week and first made its way to Lumpkin County Tuesday. The Indians’ two-run fifth inning was enough to claim a 2-1 win.

GHS XC begins season at ‘Preview’

Gilmer High cross-country runners made the short trip to Jasper for the Pickens Preview. The annual event drew 31 teams for the boys 5K last Saturday, while 28 were in attendance for the girls race with respective winners Carrollton (43 points) and Marietta (40).

CCMS softball starts season with 2 wins

The Clear Creek Lady Cats are 2-0 after their first week of league softball games. The Cats hosted Dawson County last Tuesday and downed the Tigers, 7-6. CCMS was back on its home field the following day as the White County Warriors came to town.

Clear Creek volleyball downs Dawson, Union

The Clear Creek Middle School Lady Cats added two more volleyball wins to their seasonal tally. CCMS hosted the Dawson County Tigers last Tuesday and rebounded from a first set loss of 25-22. The Cats’ won the second set by the same score and claimed the match by a 15-13 edge in the deciding set.
