CCMS softball crushes Pickens, Fannin

Clear Creek softball improved to 7-1 on the season with four wins over its rivals. The CCMS Lady Cats traveled to Fannin County last Tuesday and blasted the Rebels in three innings, 18-1. The Cats were in Pickens two days later, and the Dragonettes suffered a loss as well, 10-4.

Clear Creek football rolls vs. Dawson

Clear Creek ran wild against the Dawson County Tigers. The CCMS Bobcats made the trip last Wednesday as its eighth and seventh graders earned decisive football victories. The eighth graders took the field first, and CCMS scored 24 unanswered points to untie the score en route to a 46-22 win.

Murray no match for Gilmer

At times it was not pretty, but the conclusion came in the form of another decisive victory for the Gilmer Bobcats. The GHS defense was there when the offense stumbled last Friday versus Murray County, and they held the Indians to a paltry 6 yards of total offense.

GHS softball annihilates West Hall

The Gilmer High Lady Cats racked up 13 hits in their lopsided win over West Hall. GHS hosted the Spartans last Tuesday, and after West Hall took a brief lead in the second inning, the Cats responded with an offensive outpouring in the third and fifth innings to earn a 10-3 victory.

Clear Creek Cats blank Union, 14-0

The Clear Creek Bobcats are back in the win column. CCMS hosted Union County last Tuesday to continue its Mountain Athletic Conference football slate. UCMS does not have a seventh-grade team, so only one game was played.

Gilmer High volleyball topples North Murray

Gilmer High volleyball was back on the court  and claimed a nonregion win. The Lady Cats hosted the Murphy, N.C. Bulldogs and North Murray Mountaineers Monday, and both matches needed three sets. Murphy was up first and defeated the Cats 2-1 ahead of Gilmer’s 2-1 victory versus North Murray.

GHS Bobcat XC re-runs to the hills

Nearly a week after the original meet was halted because of thunderstorms, the Gilmer High Bobcats were back at Meeks Park. GHS made the trip last Tuesday for the postponed Run to the Hills 5K. Along with Gilmer, Rabun, Fannin and host Union County were in attendance.
Gilmer High Bobcat halfback Hunter Watkins (7) and quarterback Issac Rellinger (4) break into the open field for touchdown runs last Friday against Fannin County. Watkins finished with 208 rushing yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Rellinger scored four touchdowns and totaled 160 yards of offense.

Fannin County head coach Chad Cheatham walked his Rebels onto Pettit Field, and at game’s end, they walked out of Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium with a loss.

Gilmer volleyball spikes rival Pickens

The Gilmer High Lady Cats snagged their first volleyball win of the season. GHS headed south on Hwy. 515 last Tuesday for a pair of region matches versus the White County Warriors and host Pickens Dragonettes.

CCMS softball erases 6-run deficit for win

Clear Creek softball continued league play with two more games and the Lady Cats secured another win. CCMS was at home for both games, and first up was Union County Tuesday. The Panthers were able to build a decisive 6-0 lead before Cats roared back.
