GHS Bobcats destroy West Hall, 45-3

No passing. No problem. The Gilmer High Bobcats were in West Hall last Thursday to spoil the Spartans’ homecoming. The Bobcats’ quick-strike offense was at it again, while the defense only surrendered three points and special teams blocked two kicks and forced a fumble.

CCMS 7th, 8th-grade Cats smoke Dragons

Clear Creek whipped Pickens. The CCMS Bobcats made the short trip south last Tuesday to take on their archrival, and the Dragons had no answer in either game. Eighth graders were up first, and there was no stopping the Bobcat rushing attack in a 32-6 win.

Lady Cat softball set for 7-3A tournament

The Gilmer Lady Cats lost a heart breaker to rival Pickens. GHS was in Jasper last Tuesday, and the Dragonnettes rallied in the final inning to get the win. PHS erased the Cats’ one-run edge in the bottom of the seventh, and Gilmer returned to Ellijay with a 3-2 loss.

Gilmer nabs pair of region volleyball wins

It was a victorious night for Gilmer High volleyball at its final home matches of the regular season. The GHS Lady Cats hosted region opponents West Hall and Pickens last Tuesday and earned wins by respective scores of 2-0 and 2-1.

Gilmer rec football teams were back at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium. The Bobcats hosted archrival Pickens last Saturday for six games and Gilmer earned a pair of wins. The second-grade Bobcats shut out the Dragons for a 16-0 triumph, while Gilmer third graders rolled to a 20-0 win.

Gilmer High Bobcats rock Wolves

Gilmer High welcomed the Wesleyan Wolves to the region by handing them a loss. The GHS Bobcats hosted Wesleyan last Friday to begin their Region 7-3A football schedule. Gilmer’s offense could not be stopped as it piled up 339 rushing yards.

Lady Cat softball bests Lumpkin, 5-1

The Gilmer High Lady Cats split their region softball games last week. GHS traveled to Wesleyan Tuesday, and the Wolves’ six-run fifth inning allowed them to bring a premature end to the game in an 8-0 victory. The Cats were on the road two days later at West Hall.

Clear Creek football secures playoff spots

Clear Creek Middle School locked up trips to the football postseason with two more conference wins. The Bobcats hosted the Lumpkin County Indians last Tuesday, and their victories landed on both ends of the spectrum.

Gilmer XC races tough competition

The latest 5K race took Gilmer High cross-country runners to Cartersville. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats made the trip last Saturday for the annual Wingfoot Classic. There were three different competing classifications, and GHS runners faced teams in the B division.

Gilmer rec football teams earned two more conference victories. The Bobcats were in Dawson County last Saturday to square off against the Tigers. Gilmer teams who returned to Ellijay with victories included its third (13-0) and sixth graders (28-16).
