GHS softball battles summer rain, depth

The Gilmer High Lady Cats are set to begin their softball season. The Cats have been on the field over the summer for practices as the program experiences a player shortage.

Gilmer High School holds annual volleyball camp

After a delay to their preseason, Gilmer High is in full gear preparing for the upcoming volleyball campaign. Gilmer typically hits the court following the GHSA’s mandated dead week at the start of July.

Withrow goes from Bobcat to Bulldog

When Julien Withrow laces up his soccer cleats next season he will do so for the Tennessee Wesleyan University Bulldogs. Withrow is a 2022 Gilmer High honor graduate and was the engine that powered the Bobcats’ attack. He will make the move to Athens, Tenn.

Gilmer’s Lykins, Johnstone win state swim titles

Gilmer swimmers Law Lykins and Ryder Johnstone are state champions. The Georgia Recreation and Park Association’s Class C state meet was held in Tifton last Thursday and Friday, and the Gilmer Swim Team returned from the final competition of the season with top-three medals across 12 events.

Official football practices begin for Gilmer High School Bobcats

The days of voluntary football practices are over at Gilmer High School. The GHS Bobcats officially got underway Monday following six weeks of preseason preparations. Aside from days when they attended seven on seven passing, the Bobcats reported at 6:50 a.m.

Callihan ready to set sail with Vikings

Elly Callihan was a two-time all-state performer for the Gilmer High Lady Cats. When she takes the basketball court next season, she will do so for the Berry College Vikings.

GHS cheer puts competition routine in place

Gilmer High’s competition cheerleaders have been busy in recent months honing this season’s routine. Ahead of the summer, cheerleaders were in the weight room beginning in March to work on conditioning and strength training, which ran through the end of spring.

UGA slugger Mosley lands on All-American, All-SEC teams

The University of Georgia’s Sara Mosley has added All-Conference and All-American honors to her illustrious softball resume. The UGA junior third baseman was either the team leader or second on the roster across eight offensive categories.

Boling runs to Colorado for college and track

Reagan Boling excelled at soccer and track at Gilmer High School, and she will continue her education and running career at Colorado Christian University. Boling graduated from GHS in May with honors, and she had four scholarship offers from colleges vying for her track abilities.
