GHS XC begins season at ‘Preview’

Gilmer High cross-country runners made the short trip to Jasper for the Pickens Preview. The annual event drew 31 teams for the boys 5K last Saturday, while 28 were in attendance for the girls race with respective winners Carrollton (43 points) and Marietta (40).

CCMS softball starts season with 2 wins

The Clear Creek Lady Cats are 2-0 after their first week of league softball games. The Cats hosted Dawson County last Tuesday and downed the Tigers, 7-6. CCMS was back on its home field the following day as the White County Warriors came to town.

Clear Creek volleyball downs Dawson, Union

The Clear Creek Middle School Lady Cats added two more volleyball wins to their seasonal tally. CCMS hosted the Dawson County Tigers last Tuesday and rebounded from a first set loss of 25-22. The Cats’ won the second set by the same score and claimed the match by a 15-13 edge in the deciding set.

Lady Cat softball dismantles Dalton for 3rd victory, 9-3

The Gilmer High School Lady Cats snagged three wins in their opening week of nonregion softball action. GHS made the trip to the Dalton Invitational last Friday and Saturday. The Lady Cats kick-started the event first against the host Catamounts.

GHS Bobcats outscrimmage Commerce

It took an hour for lightning to clear from the area before the hometown faithful got a preview of the 2022 Gilmer High Bobcats. GHS hosted the Commerce Tigers for football scrimmage last Friday as the game featured three quarters of varsity action.

Clear Creek begins football season next week

Clear Creek Middle School is set to kick off its 2022 football season. The Bobcats worked diligently over the summer as they split time between the weight room and practice field.

Gilmer softball pounds Fannin

The Gilmer High Lady Cats notched a softball win on the first day of the season. GHS hosted both Coahulla Creek and Armuchee high schools last Saturday. Coahulla Creek was up first, and the Colts kept the Cats’ bats in check for a 6-0 victory.  Gilmer bounced back versus Armuchee.

Swimming sends Woodring to Cincinnati

The most decorated swimmer in Gilmer High School history is set to continue her career in the collegiate ranks. Payton Woodring is a 2022 GHS honor graduate, and her epic swimming journey has led to the University of Cincinnati.
