Gilmer High alum Grant Cochran gets ready to unleash a pitch for GHS and will attend Toccoa Falls College to play baseball for the Screaming Eagles.
Gilmer’s 8U baseball all-stars and coaches gather around the Bobcats’ runner-up trophy from the Georgia Recreation and Park Association’s Class C Coaches Pitch State Tournament. The team was coached by Tony Keener, Brady West, Adam Pulliam, Nathan West and Jeff Thurman and players were Ty West, Parker Easley, William Phillips, Noah Keener, Miles Burnette, Caleb Fountain, Wyatt Brandon, Liam Bernard, Brantley Pulliam, Lance West, Payden Thurman, Mac Boyd and Luke Bland.
Gilmer swimmers attended the district meet last Saturday in Calhoun, and all 10 qualified for state, which includes clockwise from top left, Elizabeth Kucera, Law Lykins, Esther Bowman and Jacob Watson.
Gilmer High alum Tony Olea is moments away from pinning his opponent last season, and the All-American will make his way to Emmanuel College to wrestle for the Lions.
Gilmer High’s Carter Jones is a rising senior and has had a productive summer defensively and at the plate for the Bobcats.
Gilmer High alum Dominic Tarantino intercepts a pass last fall versus White County. He is set to enroll at The Citadel and will play football for the Bulldogs.
