Clear Creek softball secured two more lopsided league wins.
The Cats were at home for eighth-grade night last Tuesday and celebrated by sending the Tigers back to Dawson County with a 13-0 defeat. CCMS was on the road Friday, and White County suffered a similar fate. The game once again needed just four innings, and the Cats stormed to a 14-2 win over the Warriors.
Sarah Dale earned the win versus Dawson as she allowed just two hits while striking out five Tigers and walking one.
CCMS jumped out early, and Lily Jones had a banner day at the plate. She drove in five runs and recorded a single, double and triple. Braley Stewart had three hits and an RBI. Sarah Dale had a single and two RBIs, and Elainah Cox recorded an RBI single. Mia Henson and Makenna Taylor each had a hit.
“This group (Dale, Henson, Jones, Emma Cagle, Makayla Martin, Jaylee McDaniel and Maddy Patterson) has improved so much in the past couple of years,” head coach Tina McDaniel said of her eighth-grade players. “They have been dedicated in the offseason, and it has paid off. They have provided great leadership, and the younger girls really look up to them. I am so proud to be their coach.”
The Cats’ bats remained hot against White County. Jones and Henson both knocked in a pair of runs, while Cox, Martin and Taylor each had one RBI. McDaniel hit a double, and both Cagle and Stewart had singles.
McDaniel started the game and pitched 2 2/3 innings and struck out six and walked two. Stewart tossed 1 1/3 relief innings and fanned four.
The wins improved the Cats’ record to 9-1.
