GHS soccer crushes Phoenix

Gilmer High School began its soccer season at home last Tuesday, and the Bobcats and Lady Cats both won handily. GHS hosted the Sonoraville Phoenix, and each match ended 10-0 in the Cats’ favor. The Lady Cats were up first and the Phoenix aided Gilmer’s cause with a pair of own goals.

GHS scrimmage ends in tie

Gilmer High baseball gathered for an intrasquad scrimmage last Thursday. The game pitted the Purple and White squads against each other on a chilly night. Pitchers dominated the six-inning game that ended in a 1-1 tie. Purple struck first in the second inning and scored off a pair of errors.

GHS falls just shy of state duals title

The Gilmer Bobcats have been a model of consistency in Georgia high school wrestling. The 17-time state champions were looking to add to their title tally last Saturday. Cherokee Bluff High School was the destination for Georgia’s top-eight teams at the Class 3A state duals tournament.

After a pair of region setbacks, the Gilmer High Lady Cats were back to their winning ways on the basketball court last week. GHS hosted the Dawson County Tigers Tuesday. Lady Cat post player Elly Callihan racked up 30 points on the night to help GHS earn a 60-33 win.

Gilmer has tough time slowing 2 Tiger sets

The Gilmer High Bobcats hosted the Dawson County last Tuesday to take on a restocked Tiger squad. Dawson’s steady scoring was bolstered by 10 three pointers as GHS lost, 73-49. Gilmer was on the road Saturday in Adairsville.

GHS cheer takes 1st ahead of sectionals

Gilmer High’s competition cheerleaders attended its latest event Jan. 23 at Creekview High School. While GHS did not face any teams it will see at this weekend’s state qualifying event, it did place first in Class 3A. Gilmer did not have any deductions and totaled 64 points.

Unbeaten CCMS Bobcats reign

The eighth-grade Clear Creek Middle School Bobcats capped their undefeated basketball season with a Mountain League championship. CCMS hosted the White County Warriors last Friday for the title and led from start to finish.

Gilmer High wrestling back at state

The Gilmer High Bobcats will be one of eight teams at this weekend’s state tournament. GHS hosted one of eight preliminary dual qualifiers in Class 3A last Saturday and emerged as the top team to earn its spot at state.

CCMS Bobcats claim seventh-grade title

The Clear Creek Bobcats won the Mountain League basketball title on their home court. The seventh-grade Cats hosted rival Fannin County for the championship last Friday.  CCMS led for all of the game until the Rebels tied the score at the end of regulation.

GHS Bobcats lose pair of region games

The Gilmer High Bobcats dropped a pair of region games last week. GHS hosted the White County Warriors Tuesday. A slow first half hurt the Bobcats, and they never caught the Warriors in a 59-44 loss. The Bobcats hit the road Friday to take on the Lumpkin County Indians.
