Gilmer High School is set to kick off its youth summer camp season in June. For fall sports, football camp will be held July 12-14 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium. The cost is $50 and includes a camp T-shirt. Cheerleading will hold its camp from June 14-17 from 9 a.m.

State meet caps Gilmer High’s track season

The curtain has fallen on the spring sports season. Gilmer High made its way to the Georgia High School Association’s Track and Field State Championships last week. Over a three-day span, Class 3A athletes slugged it out at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.

Youth camps begin in June

Spring football practice under way at Gilmer High

Since he was hired in January, Paul Standard has been busy laying the foundation for Gilmer High football. He has made the daily trek from metro Atlanta to Ellijay as he wraps up his time at St. Pius while getting acquainted with GHS players and the community.

State up next for Gilmer track

Gilmer High’s track and field season will continue at the Class 3A state championships. Five GHS athletes who attended last Saturday’s sectional meet in Atlanta placed in the top eight across seven events to qualify for state.

9 GHS athletes are all-region

Nine combined Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats landed on all-region baseball and soccer teams at the conclusion of their spring sports season. Bobcat soccer received four all-region nods and included first-team selections junior Julien Withrow and senior John Nix.

McCormick, Boling win region track titles

Gilmer High will be represented in 11 events at Saturday’s sectional track meet. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats earned their selectional spots at last week’s Region 7-3A meet in Cleveland.

Youth camps return

Following a hiatus last summer because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gilmer High’s youth sports camps are back. In previous years, camps have been there to help developing players learn and hone fundamentals, build relationships with coaching staffs and serve as a fundraiser for the varsity sport.

Gilmer golf caps season at area tourney

Gilmer High golfers completed their season at the Area 7-3A Championships April 26. The 11-team event was held at Achasta Golf Course in Dahlonega, and teams who placed in the top three advanced to state. The GHS Lady Cats posted a three-golfer score of 327 for fifth.
