The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats notched region wins on the tennis court last week.
Gilmer met the Dawson County Tigers on the road Thursday, and the Bobcats won 4-1 as the Lady Cats secured a 3-2 victory.
The Bobcats picked up three wins on the singles court led by No. 1 Brett Becker’s commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory. Teammates Kaden Reece (6-3, 6-4) and Bryson Sisson (6-1, 6-3) came out on top in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.
The top doubles team of Isaac Bradshaw and Law Lykins dropped their second set 6-2 but won the first and third by respective scores of 7-5, 6-4.
After earning a 6-4 victory in the opening set, No. 2 doubles Gavin Berger and Ethan Cole lost consecutive sets 6-4, 6-3.
For the Lady Cats, No. 2 single Beth Burnette (6-0, 6-1) and No. 3 Morgan White (6-4, 6-4) both won. The No. 2 tandem of Ellie Teague and Jenna Cole won their doubles match 6-2, 6-2.
Dawson garnered a win on the top singles court over Hope Colwell (7-5, 6-4). The No. 1 doubles team of Hannah Walker and Jessica Futch won their second set 6-4 but lost the first and third by the same margin.
The Bobcats have an overall record of 3-2 and the Lady Cats are 2-3. GHS will recognize its seniors Wednesday.
