CCMS track attends state

Track and field athletes made their way to Lilburn for the Georgia Middle School State Championships April 23-25. The event attracted 100 teams, and the Clear Creek Bobcats and Lady Cats were in attendance and competed in 12 events.

GHS tennis reaches 2nd round of state

Gilmer High’s tennis season concluded with a trip to the Sweet 16. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats both took the court for the state event last week. The Lady Cats kicked off their tournament Tuesday as a No. 3 seed and traveled to No. 2 seeded LaFayette and defeated the Ramblers, 3-2.

Bobcat soccer falls to Coahulla Creek Colts

The hard-charging Coahulla Creek Colts have foiled plenty of soccer teams this season. They hosted Gilmer High to begin the Class 3A state tournament last Wednesday. The Bobcats had their minds set on stifling the Colts’ high-powered offense, and they did just that for a half.

Gilmer High baseball wraps up season vs. Bears

Gilmer High took the field for four more baseball games last week to close out the season. GHS met the Cherokee Bluff Bears (20-9 overall) for its region finale. The Bears hosted Monday and Friday’s games while game two was played Wednesday in Ellijay.

Bobcat tennis takes down Rockmart

Gilmer High Bobcat tennis has advanced to the second round. The No. 2 seeded GHS Bobcats hosted the No. 3 seeded Rockmart Yellow Jackets to begin the state tennis tournament last Friday. Gilmer secured a win on the singles court and two more on the doubles side to earn a 3-1 victory.

GHS Bobcats qualify for state soccer tournament

The Gilmer High Bobcats wrapped up the regular season last Friday on the road. GHS made its way to Dawson County to face the Tigers for their final region soccer match. While the Tigers entered the game with only one victory on the season, they left with their second.

Gilmer High track & field runs in Rome

Gilmer High headed west last week for the Friday Night Under the Lights of Rome track meet. The 14-team event also drew a team from Tennessee, and the GHS Bobcats placed 11th on the boys side with 25 team points.

GHS Lady Cats end season with wins

The Gilmer High Lady Cats closed out their soccer season with a region victory. GHS was on the road last Friday in Dawson, and the hometown Tigers were on the defensive for much of the match.
Gilmer senior Jess Buckner recorded four hits and an RBI versus Lumpkin County last week. On the mound, he tossed a complete game Wednesday for a 3-2 victory.

Gilmer baseball enters final week of season

The Gilmer Bobcats picked up another region baseball victory last week. GHS and the Lumpkin County Indians met for a three-game series in the penultimate week of the regular season. Game one was played in Dahlonega and the Indians won in five innings, 13-1.

Gilmer High School baseball players were the lone athletes to take the field last week as most enjoyed spring break. The GHS Bobcats met the Dawson County Tigers for a three-game series to continue region play, and game one was played Monday in Ellijay.
