John Musselwhite received a Mid-South All-Conference honorable mention to cap his senior basketball season at Freed-Hardeman University.
He is set to graduate in May with a master’s degree in business, and is the son of Cindy Musselwhite of East Ellijay, grandson of Max and the late Jean Hoyle of Ellijay and nephew of Ellijay mayor Al Hoyle.
Musselwhite shot 39 percent from beyond the three-point arc as a senior and made 65 threes on the season. He led FHU with 6.7 rebounds per game and averaged 11.6 points. The Lions posted a 15-9 overall record, which included a 10-8 conference mark.
As a junior, Musselwhite earned All-American academic honors when the Lions were members of the American Midwest Conference.
Musselwhite’s brother Luke was a scholarship basketball player at Anderson University and graduated in 2018. His mother Cindy played basketball for four years at the University of North Georgia. She was a member of the Nighthawks’ 1987 team that advanced to the NAIA finals.
