Clear Creek brings home traditional league title

The Clear Creek Middle School Bobcats proved to be one of the top teams at the Mountain League’s wrestling tournaments. CCMS made its way to Dawson County last Friday for the duals portion of the event and secured a runner-up finish.

Clear Creek Bobcats sweep Dawson Co.

The Clear Creek Bobcats snatched two more league basketball victories last week. The seventh graders were up first and took care of business against the Dawson County Tigers, 52-37. The eighth graders were on the court next and the Bobcats came away with a 57-49 win.

Eighth-grade Lady Cats trounce Tigers, 42-22

Clear Creek Middle School faced the Dawson County Tigers last Monday for their final basketball games prior to Christmas break. The seventh-grade Lady Cats were defeated 32-27 before CCMS eighth graders came out on top, 42-22.
Kevin Saunders resigned from his position as Gilmer High School’s football head coach last Wednesday. He inherited a program on a 30-game losing streak and posted a 7-12 record in two seasons as the Bobcats’ head coach.

Saunders steps down as Gilmer High’s football head coach

After two seasons on the job, Gilmer High football head coach Kevin Saunders has resigned. Saunders turned in his letter of resignation last Wednesday and discussed his reason for leaving the program.

Gilmer High softball players Macy Hamby and Jasmine Staley have earned all-state honors. The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) announced its end of the year all-state teams and Hamby and Staley were voted to Class 3A’s second team.

Gilmer Lady Cats open region play, crush Spartans

The Gilmer Lady Cats rolled to another decisive win on the basketball court. GHS started region play on the road last Tuesday against the West Hall Spartans. The Cats were in command from start to finish and eviscerated West Hall for a 62-19 victory.

CCMS 8th grade keeps winning

The Clear Creek Middle School Bobcats notched six more wins on the basketball court last week. The eighth-grade Bobcats improved to 8-0 by defeating Union (40-37), Lumpkin (48-38)  and  White (48-42) counties.

Clear Creek Lady Cats snag 3 wins on hardwood

The Clear Creek Lady Cats won three league basketball games last week. CCMS eighth graders began the week with a 43-39 loss to Union County before rebounding to defeat Lumpkin County, 49-28. The Cats closed out the week with a 47-20 loss to White County.
