GHS Cats blast Tigers, 70-33

The Adairsville Tigers came to town last Saturday and received a sound beating at the hands of the Gilmer Lady Cats. GHS pulled down 24 offensive rebounds on the night to go with 21 steals, and the Tigers never had a chance.

GHS Bobcats enter the wrestling fray in Class 3A

The Gilmer Bobcats’ wrestling trophy case is stocked with hardware from 17 state championships. This season the Bobcats’ conquest for more will start in a new region and culminate in a new classification after GHS dropped to 3A this fall.

Adairsville’s Printup scores 45 as Bobcats fall

T.J. Printup Jr. was a one-man wrecking crew against the Gilmer Bobcats last Saturday. GHS hosted the Adairsville Tigers for a nonregion game that got out of hand in a hurry. Printup scored 45 on the night, and the Tigers built a 27-point led by the half.

GHS Bobcats attend 1st tourney of wrestling season

Gilmer High began its tournament slate last Saturday at Allatoona High School at the Blackbeard Duals. The event’s eight teams were split into pools of four. GHS defeated Allatoona (62-15), Veterans (60-13) and Valdosta (42-41) to begin the event.

Clear Creek Cats meet old rival on hardwood

Clear Creek Middle School tangled with rival Pickens on the basketball court last Thursday. The CCMS Lady Cats hosted the Dragonettes while the Bobcats traveled to Jasper to face the Dragons. The seventh-grade Lady Cats earned a 47-33 victory while the eighth graders lost, 57-45.

CCMS Bobcats finish fourth at home invitational

Clear Creek hosted the Bobcat Invitational last Saturday and placed fourth in a crowded wrestling field. Wrestlers from seven schools competed in ‘A’ and ‘B’ brackets. In the A bracket, Bobcat Jovani Raymundo was the champion at 155 pounds.

GHS Lady Cats roll through rivals

The Gilmer High Lady Cats captured the tip-off tournament title to start their basketball season. GHS hosted the ETC/Piedmont Mountainside Tip-off Tournament Nov. 20, 22-23 and downed a pair of old rivals on its way to the championship.

Bobcats down Rebels, Dragons for title

The Gilmer Bobcats may not have been the favorite, but they were the top team when all was said and done. GHS played host to the ETC/Piedmont Mountainside Tip-off Tournament over a three-day span that culminated last Tuesday.

JV takes court for tip-off

Gilmer’s junior varsity basketball teams took the court for their own version of the ETC/Piedmont Mountainside Tipoff Tournament. The Lady Cats played two games and both were against Fannin County. GHS lost the first game, 43-36.
