The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats made their way to Chestatee Golf Club last Thursday.
GHS faced the Dawson County Tigers and nine holes were played to decide a winner. The Lady Cats won the girls match 162-172 while the Bobcats fell, 164-236.
Clara Smith led the way for the Lady Cats and posted a 51. Maddie Wright shot a 53 and Alexis Sirmans finished with a 58.
The top four boys scores were used for the team score, which included Carson Bentley (57), Matthew Chastain (58) and Connor Wimpey (61) while both Jeremy Bertolini and Gabe Lifsey shot a 60. Lance Burton finished with a 62.
“Overall, I think the match went well. The girls played great, and we are really happy with the victory,” GHS coach James Speece said.
“Everyone tried their best, and we’re concentrating on taking away the positives from the match. For some of our players, it has been two years since their last round of competitive golf. We look forward to working on areas of weakness in our golf games and focusing on getting better every day.”
GHS will travel to Old Toccoa Farm Thursday to take on Fannin County.
