CCMS track finishes 2nd, 3rd at Eagle Invitational

Clear Creek track had a stellar day at the Junior Eagle invitational. CCMS was in Commerce last Saturday, and the Lady Cats and Bobcats turned in their best-ever placements at  the event. The Lady Cats’ day ended with 75 points, which was good enough for second behind Oak Hill.
Gilmer senior Carter Jones had four hits in the Bobcats’ two games versus Southeast Whitfield last week. He was the winning pitcher in Gilmer’s 4-0 victory over the Raiders.

Bobcat baseball sinks Raiders

Rain dampened the Bobcats’ baseball schedule to begin the week, but they were finally able to take the field by the end. After last Monday’s matchup versus Gordon Central was rained out, the GHS Bobcats’ Thursday game against Southeast Whitfield was postponed to Saturday.

GHS tennis sweeps Fannin Co.

Rain showers washed away many of the events in the county last week. Gilmer High tennis was able to dodge the rain drops for two days and took on the same opponent. The Bobcats and Lady Cats hosted the Fannin County Rebels last Tuesday and both won, 4-1.

Gilmer soccer falls to Class 7A Cherokee

Gilmer High put itself to the test versus Class 7A Cherokee. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats made the trip south last Tuesday, and the Warriors were victorious in both matches. Cherokee was able to maintain much of the possession in the girls contest.
The Gilmer High trio of sophomore Jackson McVey, freshman Keegen Bryant and junior Ryder Wofford combined to score 70 points in the first round of the Class 3A state basketball tournament last Wednesday versus Hart County. McVey and Wofford each tallied 24 points and Bryant finished with 22.

Hart outlasts Bobcats in overtime

The Gilmer High gym was rocking to start the Class 3A basketball state tournament. The GHS Bobcats entered the first round last Wednesday as a No. 2 seed versus No. 3 seeded Hart County. The visiting Bulldogs were a speedy bunch that gave Gilmer issues when they decided to press.

GHS Lady Cat soccer still unbeaten at 3-0

The Gilmer High Lady Cats remain undefeated through the early weeks of the soccer season. The latest team to tumble against the Cats were the Adairsville Tigers. Gilmer hosted AHS last Tuesday, and the Cats’ efforts paid off in the second half with a pair of long-range goals for a 2-1 win.

GHS baseball rolls past Gordon Central, 10-0

The Gilmer Bobcats snagged another victory as they continued to navigate their nonregion baseball schedule. GHS was on the field for three games last week, and Murray County was up first Monday. The Indians defended their home turf for a 12-4 win.

Bobcat soccer blanks Towns County, 3-0

Gilmer Bobcat soccer earned another victory. GHS was on the field for a pair of nonregion matches last Monday and Tuesday against Towns County and Adairsville. The Indians were up first, and the host Bobcats won decisively, 3-0.

McVey sets 4 new GHS records

Jackson McVey had a record-breaking year for the Gilmer Bobcats. Throughout the course of the 2022-23 season, the sophomore all-region post player established four new standards for the program. The first record to fall was the most field goals. When McVey scored 45 points against Sonoraville Dec.

Bobcats are back-to-back Class 3A state champions

For the 19th time, the Gilmer High Bobcats are wrestling state champions. The Gilmer High School Bobcats won the Class 3A traditional state title last Saturday in Macon. It marked their second traditional state championship in a row and 10th in school history.
