4 Gilmer athletes qualify for state track meet

Gilmer High’s track athletes are set for the final meet of the season. GHS was in Atlanta last Saturday for Class 3A’s ‘B’ sectional, and Lady Cat Taylor McCormick walked away as the high jump champion. Also punching their ticket to state were Bobcats Will Kiker, Matthew Grice and John Keener.

Gilmer High golf season concludes at area tournament

Gilmer High golfers were in Athens to wrap up their 2023 season. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats teed it up for the final time last Tuesday at the Area 7-3A tournament at the University of Georgia Course.

One week of spring in the books for GHS

Gilmer High football has reached the midpoint of spring practice, and the Bobcats continue to lay the foundation for the 2023 season. The program has experienced continuity in its coaching ranks as it enters the third season with nearly the exact same staff.

77 rising seventh, eighth graders attend spring

Clear Creek Middle School wrapped up spring football practice, and the Bobcats will not be sneaking up on any opponents this season. Head coach Willie Dodaro and staff put rising seventh and eighth graders through two weeks of teaching and fundamental work, which concluded last Friday.

Kiker wins pair of region titles, sets GHS discus record

Gilmer High track and field was in Cleveland for the Region 7-3A meet to decide who continues their season. The meet was held last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and the Bobcats placed third in the boys standings with 83 points.

Clear Creek Middle School returned home from the state track meet with a pair of top 10 placements. Teams from across the state gathered for the Georgia Middle School State Championships April 21-22 in Lilburn. Leading the way for CCMS were Lady Cat Lilyan Cook and Bobcat Dawson Richard.

82 prospective Bobcats hit the field for spring practice

The Gilmer High Bobcats have started to assemble the 2023 football season as spring practice got under way Monday. Paul Standard enters his third season as head coach, and participation has increased dramatically since his first year.

Bobcat baseball wins final game

The Gilmer High Bobcats stopped their region baseball skid on the final day of the season. GHS faced West Hall last week, and the series mirrored much of the season through the first two games. The Bobcats fell 5-0 at home last Monday before Wednesday’s away doubleheader.

Gilmer golfers prepare for area

Gilmer High golfers were on the course for three more matches. GHS hosted Fannin County at Whitepath last Tuesday for a pair of wins. The Bobcats edged the Rebels, 199-207, while the Lady Cats claimed a 156-189 win over the forfeiting Lady Rebels.
