Gilmer High was back on its home course for the third golf match of the season.
GHS hosted the Southeast Whitfield Raiders and Murray County Indians last Thursday at Whitepath. The Bobcats’ score of 195 bested Murray (211) and Southeast (214). The Lady Cats’ posted a score of 158. Southeast did not have enough golfers to qualify a team score, and Murray’s girls did not attend the event.
The top-four GHS scorers over nine holes were Grant Ballew (43), Luke Janssen (49), Caden Stover (51) and Hershel Defoor (52). Rhett McGregor finished with a 54 and Connor Wimpey posted a 56.
The top three girls scores were used to determine the team score, and Anna Waddell’s 51 was the best. Teammate Maddie Wright shot a 52 and Madison Stanley had a 55. Lady Cats Allie Mayo and Arielle Smith’s days both ended with a 61.
GHS will return to action following spring break April 12 at Old Toccoa Farm.
