Lady Cat golfers down Pickens

Gilmer High opened its golf season at home versus an old rival. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats hosted Pickens last Tuesday at Whitepath Golf Course for a nine-hole match. The Lady Cats earned a 164-168 win, while the Bobcats fell, 196-214.

GHS Lady Cat soccer stumbles vs. region foes

Gilmer High was tasked with facing the region’s two highest scoring soccer teams in the same week. The GHS Lady Cats hosted undefeated Dawson County last Tuesday, and the Tigers gained a two-goal lead by the half. Gilmer fought back in the second, but DCHS was able to escape with a 3-2 win.

Gilmer’s bats held in check vs. Dawson

Gilmer High was on the baseball diamond for its first three-game region series of the season. The GHS Bobcats hosted the Dawson County Tigers last Tuesday and Wednesday, and the visitors secured a pair of wins.

Gilmer High opened its home track schedule and also hit the road for an invitational. GHS hosted Pickens, Lumpkin and Fannin last Wednesday, and the Bobcats and Lady Cats both finished third in their respective standings.

Gilmer baseball set for region

Gilmer High wrapped up its nonregion baseball schedule with two more wins. GHS faced Union County last Tuesday and Friday. Gilmer was at home for their first meeting, and the Bobcats’ bats came alive for an 11-4 win.

Lady Cats best Spartans

Gilmer High School tennis continued it region schedule with a win. Gilmer made its way to West Hall last Wednesday to face the Spartans. The Lady Cats came away with a 3-2 victory, while the Bobcats lost, 4-1. The Lady Cats picked up a victory in the No.

W. Hall wins shootout vs. Lady Cats

The Gilmer High Lady Cats found themselves in a  pair of closely-contested matches. GHS made its way to Union County last Tuesday, and its meeting with the Panthers was tied after regulation. Because it was a nonregion match, it ended in a 2-2 draw.

Bobcat soccer looks to bounce back vs. Tigers

Gilmer High continues to face formidable opponents on the soccer field. The GHS Bobcats were in Union County last Tuesday, and the Panthers scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 win. The Cats were at home three days later to start region play versus West Hall.
