The Westminster Wildcats provided a stout test for Gilmer High as the Bobcats wrapped up their nonregion football schedule. GHS made the trip to Buckhead last Friday, and the Class 4A private school found success through the air and also made pivotal plays on defense and special teams.
Gilmer’s Jace Sanderson is backed up by libero Maddie Usry (7). Sanderson had seven kills, five assists and five digs in the Cats’ win over Adairsville and Usry provided 21 digs.

GHS volleyball nabs another region win

Gilmer High earned a victory for its second region volleyball triumph of the season. The GHS Lady Cats were at Northwest Whitfield last Monday, and while the host Bruins won in straight sets, Gilmer downed Adairsville, 2-1. The Cats were in Rome two days later and lost to the Wolves, 2-0.

Clear Creek hosted Lumpkin County, and the visiting Indians notched two football wins. In the eighth-grade game, three Bobcat turnovers were converted into LCMS touchdowns. CCMS trailed throughout and by as many as 28 points in a 40-18 loss.

The Gilmer High Lady Cats were on the softball field for three more region games over a three-day span. The Heritage Generals came calling last Monday, and they handed the Cats a 12-0 loss. Next up was a pair of games against Northwest Whitfield, and the Bruins won by scores of 6-3 and 7-2.

CCMS cross-country attends tough meet

Clear Creek cross-country runners were in Canton for the annual Warpath Invitational. The 2-mile race was held at Canton’s Boling Park last Saturday, and the CCMS Bobcats placed 13th (331 points) while the Lady Cats (372) took 15th in their race. River Rayborn was the No. 1 Bobcat in attendance.

Clear Creek softball was back on the field for two more league wins over White and Union counties. There was no shortage of offense for CCMS on the week. The Cats smashed 17 hits in their 14-0 rout of White County last Monday.

Gilmer High cross-country runners faced a stacked field at the Warpath Invitational. Twenty-eight teams gathered at Canton’s Boling Park last Saturday for the event. The GHS Bobcats finished 25th with 713 points, and the Lady Cats were 23rd with 646.

The Gilmer Lady Cats stormed to a victory by obliterating Gordon Central. GHS hosted the Warriors last Wednesday, and the nonregion matchup needed just three innings as the Cats strolled to a 16-1 win. Gilmer was back to its region schedule the following day at Lumpkin County.

The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats were both runners-up at their annual home meet. GHS hosted the North Georgia Championships last Thursday at Clear Creek Middle School, and Heritage won the boys and girls 5Ks.

The eighth-grade Bobcats kept their undefeated season rolling with a rout of the Union County Panthers. Clear Creek hosted Union last Wednesday to continue league play, and the Cats ran roughshod over the Panthers. CCMS had its offense in gear, and the defense took care of the rest.
