Clear Creek battled White County to begin the middle school football season.
The CCMS Bobcats made the trek to Cleveland last Wednesday for a pair of games against the Warriors, and the eighth graders were up first. The Bobcats played from behind for much of the evening and trailed at the half.

CCMS softball wins pair

The Clear Creek Lady Cats are off to a 3-1 record in league play.
CCMS kicked off its softball season Aug. 5 at home against Pickens, and the Dragonettes returned to Jasper with a 9-1 loss. The Cats traveled to Dawson County two days later and fell to the Tigers, 11-6.

The Gilmer High Lady Cats have continued to navigate their nonregion volleyball schedule through the early season.
Gilmer played six more matches last week, and while the Cats found themselves on the losing side each time, head coach Maria Huelsman believes they are about to break through.

Ryder Wofford was an integral part of Gilmer’s basketball success in recent years, and he is ready to take his skills to the next level.
Wofford, a 2024 GHS graduate, will attend Reinhardt University to play for the Eagles.

The Gilmer Lady Cats were back on the softball field as they made their way through the nonregion schedule.
The Cats were home for a pair of matchups last Tuesday and Thursday. First up was Dawson County, and GHS could not buy a hit when it needed it most.

GHS made the short trip to Pickens last Tuesday for three matches. Fannin County was up first, and the Lady Rebels defeated the Cats in straight sets.

Gilmer’s Lily Fortune was the winning pitcher versus Dalton to start the season and struck out nine Fannin County Rebels Monday.

GHS made its way to Dalton last Thursday, and the host Catamounts found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-2 extra-inning loss.

Dowse wraps up 1st summer with GHS Lady Cats

The Gilmer Lady Cats spent another summer getting acquainted with a new head coach.
For Lady Cat seniors, David Dowse is the third head coach during their GHS careers. Dowse was hired in March and met with players of all ages in the program in the spring.
