Gilmer High cross-country runners faced a stacked field at the Warpath Invitational.
Twenty-eight teams gathered at Canton’s Boling Park last Saturday for the event. The GHS Bobcats finished 25th with 713 points, and the Lady Cats were 23rd with 646.
Dawson Richard was the only Bobcat in the top 100, and he clocked in at 17:15.64 for 49th place. Next up for Gilmer was Leeland Dantin in 157th (19:58.80), and he was trailed by teammates Seth Turner (160th, 20:09.15), Edward Marietta (179th, 21:21.27) and Willian Ramirez (183rd, 21:53.92).
Salma Gonzalez led the way for the Lady Cats in 24:08.26 for 128th. Not far behind were teammates Morgan Palmeri (130th, 24:10.39) and Estephany Becerra (134th, 24:20.56). Rounding out the Cats’ point scorers were Jayla Walker (158th, 26:56.22) and Selina Tercero (159th, 27:01.14).
Pace Academy (122 points) won the girls race ahead of North Hall (140) and St. Pius (149). Denmark won by a wide margin over Lovett, 65-136, and Milton (141) finished third.
GHS will make its way to Cartersville Saturday for the Wingfoot Classic.
