The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats were both runners-up at their annual home meet.
GHS hosted the North Georgia Championships last Thursday at Clear Creek Middle School, and Heritage won the boys and girls 5Ks.
All of the Lady Cat point scorers ranked in the top 10 and included Salma Gonzalez (fourth place, 27:07), Estephany Becerra (fifth, 27:09), Morgan Palmeri (sixth, 27:37), Jenifer Garcia (seventh, 27:42) and Allison Hernandez (10th. 28:27).
Next up were Lady Cats Jayla Walker (17th, 30:47) and Selina Tercero (18th, 31:48).
Bobcat Dawson Richard cracked the top 10 in the boys race with a ninth-place time of 20:09. Next was Gilmer’s Seth Turner (16th, 21:56) followed by Jeremy Martinez (17th, 22:00), Leeland Dantin (22:06), Kelby Puac (24th, 22:50), Edward Marietta (27th, 23:07) and Eder Martinez (29th, 23:23).
The boys standings included Heritage (16 points), GHS (84), Gordon Central (93), North Murray (110), Trion (125), Rabun County (138) and Northwest Whitfield (159).
Heritage (23) and Gilmer (32) in the girls race were followed by Rabun (79) and Trion (101).
Gilmer traveled to Cumming Saturday to run at the 13-team Rangers Invitational. The Bobcats and Lady Cats both placed seventh in their respective races.
The top seven Lady Cats were Becerra (21st, 25:04.12), Palmeri (32nd, 26:21.83), Garcia (35th, 26:30. 41), Walker (65th, 28:49.26), Braelyn Nolasco (91st, 31:21.16), Autumn Little (94th, 31:36.72) and Maggie Thompson (97th, 32:04.46).
The Bobcats’ top-seven runners were Richard (eighth, 18:44.60), Turner (31st, 20:43. 77) Dantin (34th, 20:48. 58), Marietta (67th, 22:11.67), Willian Ramirez (78th, 22:41.51), Gabe Watkins (143rd, 26:32.43) and Daniel Gonzalez (52nd, 27:59.29).
Gilmer will attend the Warpath Invitational Saturday in Canton.
