GHS cheer improves

Gilmer High cheerleaders were in Woodstock for their second competition of the season. GHS was the lone team in the Class 3A division at the annual Woodstock Fall Classic. The team did not incur any deductions for the second weekend in a row, and cheerleaders also saw their score increase.

Bobcats cruise past rickety Ramblers

The Gilmer Bobcats earned their second region win by lambasting the LaFayette Ramblers. GHS was in LaFayette last Friday, and the winless Ramblers continued their fruitless season. The Bobcat rushing attack hit its stride early, and GHS built a four-score lead at the half.

Cats close out season

With a state volleyball spot on the line, the Gilmer Lady Cats fell to the LaFayette Ramblers. The GHS Cats made the trip to LaFayette last Thursday for the opening round of the Region 7-3A tournament. The hometown Ramblers earned a sweep to eliminate the Cats and end their season.

GHS XC returns to trail

Gilmer High cross-country’s latest test was in Ringgold. After a week without a race, the GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats were at Heritage High School for last Tuesday’s Fast Break Challenge.

Comp. cheer season opens

Gilmer High was in Canton to began the competition cheer season. GHS traveled to Creekview High School last Saturday, and while there were no other teams in their division, cheerleaders were still able to check their progression after months of preparation.

Bobcats don black to bury Generals

The Gilmer Bobcats got back in the win column with their homecoming triumph. GHS hosted Heritage last Friday, and the black-clad Bobcats were a nightmare for the Generals.

CCMS Lady Cats crush Lumpkin for league title

Lumpkin County entered the softball league championship as the undefeated No. 1 seed. And they left with the second place trophy when the Clear Creek Lady Cats skunked them in five innings, 9-0.

Gilmer softball ends season with senior night

The final week of the regular season included three more region softball matchups for the Gilmer Lady Cats. Last Monday brought Northwest Whitfield to town, and GHS was playing catch-up all evening. Gilmer never overcame the Bruins’ fast start and lost, 5-2.

GHS volleyball takes down Stephens Co.

Gilmer High volleyball served a loss to Stephens County to wrap up the regular season. The GHS Lady Cats were on the court for four matches last week, and the Cats notched a 2-1 win over Stephens Thursday. They also lost to host North Hall by the same margin.

Clear Creek football ousted in league semifinals

Clear Creek’s football seasons came to a close in the league semifinals. The eighth-grade Bobcats hosted Fannin County last Wednesday. The visiting Rebels took a two-point lead into the half and scored three unanswered touchdowns for a 36-14 win.
