Hataway, Keener, Cook place at state meet

Gilmer High School came away with three placements at the state track meet. The Class 3A Track and Field Championships were held last week at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany, and Bobcats Aspen Hataway and John Keener and Lady Cat Lilyan Cook reached the medal stand.

Clear Creek football completes rites of spring

Clear Creek Middle School was on the field for two weeks in early preparation for the upcoming football season. Eighty-one combined rising seventh and eighth graders were under the direction of head coach Willie Dodaro and staff for spring practice, which was scheduled to wrap up Monday.

Three Gilmer athletes qualify for state track

Three Gilmer High athletes have qualified for the Class 3A state track meet. GHS was in Carnesville last Saturday for Class 3A’s ‘B’ sectional, which was comprised of teams from Regions 4, 6, 7 and 8. Athletes who placed in the top eight of their respective events will continue their seasons.

Bobcats put a scare into Tigers

The Ringgold Tigers are fortunate to still be in the baseball postseason. The champions of Region 5 ran into a hungry pack of Gilmer High Bobcats in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs last week.
