Gilmer attends 1st invitational

Gilmer High track and field was up early Saturday for the Forsyth Central Bulldog Invitational. It was Gilmer’s first invitational of the season after the Bobcats and Lady Cats faced Fannin County two weeks prior. GHS was one of six teams in attendance, and the Bobcats placed fourth with 75 points.

Clear Creek soccer claws Union County

Clear Creek soccer secured another league win last Thursday. CCMS met the Union County Panthers, and the Bobcats proved to be a strong test in a decisive 3-0 win. A week prior, Clear Creek faced nonleague foe Towns County, and the match ended in a 2-2 tie.

Speedy Patriots blitz GHS Cats

The Gilmer High Bobcats ran into a well-rounded Sandy Creek team to kick start the state basketball tournament. GHS was in Tyrone last Tuesday to take on the Patriots, the No. 1 team in Class 3A.

Gilmer High Lady Cats pound Pumas, 10-0

The Gilmer High Lady Cats unleashed a scoring barrage on Dalton Academy. GHS hosted the nonregion soccer match last Friday and were continually on the attack from start to finish. A final goal with under a minute to play ended the match, and the Cats walked away with a 10-0 win.

GHS soccer takes down undefeated Dalton Academy

Gilmer High soccer enjoyed the friendly confines of Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium last Friday. The undefeated Dalton Academy Pumas were in town, and their record received its first blemish.

Gilmer High baseball blasts Raiders, 11-1

The Gilmer High Bobcats suffered their first baseball loss of the season. GHS was in Jasper last Thursday to take on rival Pickens. The Dragons tallied runs in all but one at-bat and sent the Cats back to Ellijay with a 10-5 loss.

Clear Creek Middle School Roundup

Clear Creek Bobcat soccer is off to a 3-0 start. CCMS has notched wins over Pickens (4-1), Towns County (6-0) and White County (2-1). Bobcat Brayner Ortiz was there for two goals versus Pickens and Miguel Reynoso and Deyson Lopez scored one apiece.

Bobcats hit the road for state

Gilmer High wrapped up the Region 7-3A basketball  tournament last week and now knows its postseason destination. The GHS Bobcats faced the  East Forsyth Broncos in the consolation finals held in Hall County last Tuesday.

All-region selections released

All-region teams were recently announced, and Gilmer High School cheerleaders and basketball players were honored. Gilmer’s first team basketball selections included Bobcats Cade Carter and Ethan Banks and Lady Cat Elly Callihan.

Gilmer High baseball wins three to start season

The Gilmer Bobcats are off to their best start on the baseball diamond in recent years. GHS opened its season at home last Monday and crushed Hiram 10-0 in six innings without allowing a hit. Gilmer traveled to Fannin County two days later and delivered a 3-1 loss to the Rebels.
