GHS Bobcats drop three region games to Lumpkin

Gilmer High baseball suffered three more region losses as it enters the final week of the season. The GHS Bobcats faced Lumpkin County last week and hosted game one Monday. The Indians only had four hits, but four Gilmer errors aided Lumpkin’s cause in a 6-2 win.

GHS Bobcats fall in region baseball series vs. Dawson

It has been feast or famine for the Gilmer Bobcats when it comes to region play. GHS continued its region baseball schedule versus Dawson County. After losing its first two series, Gilmer won five of six region games. The Bobcats were swept by the Tigers last week by scores of 10-0, 9-3 and 12-1.

Schiesser takes 2nd at Viper Pit

Gilmer’s Taylor Schiesser has earned another medal during the USA Wrestling season. Her latest success took place in West Virginia last weekend at the Viper Pit Nationals. She took the mat at 180 pounds and placed second in freestyle.

CCMS Bobcat soccer defends league title

The Clear Creek Bobcats defended their soccer title to continue to reign over the Mountain League. CCMS hosted rival Pickens for the championship last Wednesday, and for the second consecutive season, the Bobcats were crowned champions.

Gilmer High baseball has found itself in the middle of a state playoff battle. The GHS Bobcats have played four region opponents so far, and after a 0-6 start, they have rebounded to win five of their last six games and currently sit in fifth place.

GHS Bobcat soccer wins 10th match

With a state playoff spot already secured, the Gilmer High Bobcats added two more wins to their seasonal tally. GHS wrapped up its region schedule last Tuesday in Lumpkin County, and the Indians were the fifth region victim claimed by Gilmer.

GHS Cats, Rebels meet on track

A pair of old rivals met for a track and field dual meet. The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats made the short trip to Blue Ridge last Tuesday to take on Fannin County. Not much separated the teams as all four won seven events in the boys and girls divisions.

Gilmer tennis eliminated from region tournament

Gilmer High School tennis endured a first-round exit from the region tennis tournament. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats attended the event last Tuesday in Dahlonega, and both faced the Cherokee Bluff Bears. The Bobcats were seeded eighth and lost to the top-ranked Bears, 5-0.

GHS Cats’ soccer season ends

The Gilmer High Lady Cats’ soccer season has come to an end. GHS was on the field last week for its last two matches of the season, which started Tuesday in Lumpkin County. The Indians are in second place in the standings and gave GHS its final region loss, 3-0.

CCMS track wins 18 medals at Ashworth Inv.

Clear Creek track and field turned in a strong performance at the Ashworth Warrior Invitational. The CCMS Bobcats and Lady Cats were in Gordon County for the annual event March 26. The Bobcats had their highest finish at the meet and placed second with 84 team points.
