Clear Creek track and field turned in a strong performance at the Ashworth Warrior Invitational.
The CCMS Bobcats and Lady Cats were in Gordon County for the annual event March 26. The Bobcats had their highest finish at the meet and placed second with 84 team points. The Lady Cats landed in fifth place in the girls standings and topped out with 25.
CCMS had a total of six first-place finishes at the invitational, and Abbie Elliott’s top mark of 30’ 1” in the triple jump set a new school standard. Teammate Piper McCormick’s heave of 29’ 4” in the shot put was also good enough for first.
For the Bobcats, Bo Cronic proved to be the top hurdler on the day winning both the 110- (19.45) and 300-meter (49.85) events. Hunter Britain led the way in the triple jump (34’ 1”), was second in the 200 meters (25.00) and fourth in the 100 (12.31).
Bobcat Dawson Richard set the pace in the 3,200 (11:56.71), placed second in the 1,600 (5:37.53) and took third in the discus (87’ 8”).
The 4x100 relay team of Britain, Cronic, Harper Davenport and Cheyne Smith clocked in at 5:37.53 for second place. Cronic, Davenport, Richard and Leeland Dantin joined forces for third in the 4x400 at 4:27.59.
Also scoring team points for CCMS were fifth-place finishers Jayla Walker, 3,200 (16:50.10); Dantin, 400 (1:02.62) and Smith, 110 hurdles (21.60). Placing sixth were Presley Chancey, triple jump (25’ 2”); Mia Henson, shot put (25’ 6”) and Jilly Burnette, 200 (31.75).
Final boys standings: Calhoun (214), CCMS (84), Dalton (81), Red Bud (47), Armuchee (22) and Ashworth (12). Behind Calhoun (203) and Dalton (114) in the girls standings were Armuchee (77), Red Bud (33), CCMS (25) and Ashworth (11).
