CCMS XC Lady Cats finish 5th

Clear Creek cross-country runners attended the always competitive Wingfoot Classic.  The annual 3K race was held last Saturday in Cartersville, and the CCMS Lady Cats (132 points) finished in the middle of the pack out of 10 teams.

Gilmer High XC returns to Warpath

Gilmer High cross-country returned to Canton’s Boling Park. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats attended the annual Fleet Foot Warpath Invitational, which drew 28 teams. The Bobcats were 26th in the boys standings with 712 points, and the Lady Cats were 24th (723) on the girls side.

Youth baseball shines

Five local youth baseball players put their talent on display over Labor Day weekend. Gilmer’s Peyton Ocobock, River Rayborn, Lance West, Keegan Brookshire and Brandon Harrell were all selected to play in the Future Pro Baseball (FPB) World Series in Augusta.

JV Cats claim 14-13 victory

When the game was on the line, the Gilmer Bobcats performed. While the varsity was on a bye week, the junior varsity Bobcats continued their season versus Union County.

CCMS Lady Cats finish 2nd at annual home meet

The Clear Creek Middle School Lady Cats ran their way to a runner-up finish. CCMS hosted the North Georgia Championships last Monday, and the Lady Cats were second behind Dawson County, 30-59. A top-five placement was needed to score team points.

‘23 mountain bike season underway

The Cartecay Youth Mountain Bike Team kicked off its seventh season with the Battle of Bartram. Over the years, the team has evolved into multiple squads and has continued to do so in 2023.

CCMS Cats blast Dawson

Clear Creek Middle School sent its eighth graders out on a winning note. The CCMS Lady Cats hosted the Dawson County Tigers last Tuesday and also celebrated its five eighth-graders. It was a tight game through five innings before the Cats’ offense erupted.

Wolves, Indians top GHS volleyball

The Gilmer High Lady Cats were dealt a pair of volleyball losses versus region opponents. GHS made its way to Norcross last Tuesday to take on host Wesleyan and Lumpkin County. Both matches needed two sets to decide a winner and the Cats lost, 2-0. The host Wolves downed Gilmer 25-8 and 25-13.

Bobcats dismantle Ringgold

Gilmer High wrapped up its nonregion football schedule with its third blowout victory. The Ringgold Tigers were the latest to fall, and they met their demise against the Bobcats at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium last Friday.
