GHS volleyball takes down West Hall, 2-0

Gilmer High earned a victory on a night when it honored its senior volleyball players. The Lady Cats hosted the West Hall Spartans and White County Warriors last Tuesday. West Hall was up first, and the Cats won, 2-0. White County toppled the Cats by the same margin in the final match of the day.

GHS Lady Cats hold off Lumpkin Co., 6-5

The Gilmer High Lady Cats split their region softball games in the penultimate week of the regular season. GHS hosted Lumpkin County last Monday, and the Cats found themselves in another familiar spot. Gilmer led going into the final inning, and the Indians got the big hit they needed.

CCMS football buries Pickens

Clear Creek hosted rival Pickens, and the Dragons left town with two decisive football losses. The CCMS Bobcats wrapped up their regular season at home last Tuesday. The eighth-grade Bobcats mauled the Dragons for a 44-0 beatdown.

Gilmer cross-country tackles tough 5K course

Unicoi State Park is an annual destination for Gilmer High cross-country, and it returned once again. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats made their way to  Helen for the 24-team Mountain Invitational last Thursday.

Wesleyan airs it out vs. Bobcats

Wesleyan’s passing attack was too much for the Bobcats to contain. Gilmer High kicked off its region football schedule on the road last Friday, and the Wolves’ aerial assault was devastating.

Lady Cats smash Spartans

The Gilmer Lady Cats earned a commanding senior night softball victory. GHS hosted West Hall last Thursday and the Cats’ offense and defense allowed them to build a lead throughout.

Gilmer volleyball tops Sonoraville

Gilmer High volleyball secured its second win of the season. The Lady Cats were in Dalton last Thursday to take on the host Catamounts and North Murray. Gilmer fell by respective scores of 2-0 and 2-1. The Cats returned to Whitfield County Saturday for the annual Raider Rally tournament.

Clear Creek eighth grade stumbles vs. Lumpkin

In a meeting of undefeated football teams, Lumpkin County came out on top. The Clear Creek Bobcats made their way to LCMS last Tuesday. The eighth-grade Indians were able to limit the Cats’ ground game, and  a pivotal turnover went in Lumpkin’s favor.

GHS runs against tough field at 9th annual Wingfoot

Cartersville was the latest destination for Gilmer High cross-country runners. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats competed in the Ninth Annual Wingfoot Classic last Saturday. There were three separate varsity races held, and GHS competed in the B division.
