Clear Creek 7th, 8th grade smashes Dawson County

Clear Creek Middle School football is still undefeated. The seventh and eighth-grade Bobcats hosted Dawson County last Wednesday, and the day got rolling with the latter’s 20-0 victory. The seventh-grade game had plenty of quick scores, and by the end, CCMS came out on top, 34-22.

Cats take on Hwy. 515 rivals Fannin, Pickens

The Clear Creek Lady Cats claimed three softball wins over their rivals. CCMS faced both Pickens and Fannin over its last four games. First up was Pickens Aug. 30, and the Cats won 2-0 with strong pitching and a timely hit.

CCMS runs in Fannin

Clear Creek cross-country runners turned in a pair of third-place finishes.  The four-team race was held in Fannin County last Tuesday, and the CCMS Lady Cats scored 51 team points. The Bobcats totaled 76 in the boys standings. Ella Schwartz turned in a 3.

GHS Bobcats win easily, 35-7

The Gilmer Bobcats could have named their score, and  it appeared that 35 points were enough for head coach Paul Standard. Gilmer’s option attack found success no matter who carried the ball versus Murray County last Friday.

Cats claw Panthers

The Clear Creek Bobcats improved to 3-0 with another dominating performance. CCMS made its way to Union County last Tuesday to continue its league football schedule against the Panthers, and all of the points came in the first half.

Spartans rally to slip past GHS Lady Cats, 5-4

A West Hall rally denied the Lady Cats. Gilmer continued its region softball slate last week. After Monday’s game at Wesleyan was rained out, the Cats made their way to take on the Spartans Thursday. Gilmer’s runs came steadily through the first four innings, while West Hall did its damage late.

Gilmer volleyball takes out Cass, 2-1

Gilmer High volleyball earned their second win of the season. The Cats were in Murray County last Monday to take on the host Indians and Cass Colonels. MCHS came away with a 2-0 win, while Gilmer downed Cass, 2-1.

Rebels flatten GHS Bobcats

A week removed from a lopsided victory, the Gilmer Bobcats received a taste of their own medicine. GHS made the short trip to face rival Fannin County last Friday. The Rebels’ offense made good use of the pass when their ground game was not gashing the Cats’ defense for big gains.

Lady Cats notch first volleyball win of ’23

It was another busy week for Gilmer High volleyball. The Cats were on the court eight times last week for a mix of region and nonregion matches.  GHS started its slate of matches last Tuesday versus region foes Lumpkin County and Pickens. Against rival Pickens, the GHS won the second set, 25-20.
