Bobcat baseball undefeated at 4-0

Offense has not been an issue for the Gilmer High Bobcats. GHS was on the baseball diamond for three games last week to begin its 2024 campaign, and the Bobcats walked away victorious each time. Gilmer made its way to Blue Ridge Tuesday to take on Fannin County.

Dawson outlasts Lady Cats at region, 36-30

The Gilmer Lady Cats nearly pulled off an upset at the Region 7-3A basketball tournament. GHS was seeded No. 6 and met No. 3 seed Dawson County in the first round last Tuesday, and the game came down to the final quarter.

Gilmer High School Lady Cat soccer keeps rolling

The Gilmer Lady Cats earned three more sound soccer victories to improve to 6-0 on the season, and junior Yenifer Lopez has racked up 18 goals. GHS was on the road at Fannin County Monday before a pair of home matches.

Bobcats survive rough conditions, Fannin County

Gilmer soccer came away with another nonregion victory. The GHS Bobcats and Fannin County dealt with nasty weather last Monday with plenty of wind and rain on a chilly night. Gilmer took the lead early and never lost it. While the Rebels drew within a goal late, Gilmer held on for a 2-1 victory.

Five GHS Bobcats qualify for state

Five Gilmer High Bobcats have punched their ticket to the state wrestling tournament. Class 3A schools were split into two sectional tournaments last Saturday, and GHS attended the four-region event at Lumpkin County High School.
Gilmer’s Jackson McVey closed out the regular season with 34 points and 14 rebounds in the Bobcats’ 90-60 win versus West Hall last Tuesday.

Bobcats lock up region’s No. 1 spot

The Gilmer High Bobcats’ final basketball win of the regular season was an important one. GHS was at West Hall last Tuesday, and the Spartans hung with the Cats through a half. Gilmer took control of the game over the final 16 minutes and rolled to a 90-60 victory.

Gilmer girls set for state wrestling

The state wrestling tournament is on tap for Gilmer High, and five girls are set to make their way to Macon. Gilmer’s Josephine Royer was the best 105 pounder at last Saturday’s sectional tournament at Harris County High.

GHS baseball begins season

Gilmer High returns plenty of experienced baseball players but so does most of the region. The Bobcats are set to open their 2024 season this week, and eight players are back who either started or lettered last year.

The Gilmer Lady Cats ended the regular season with a lopsided road victory. The Cats met region foe West Hall last Tuesday as the end to the woeful Spartans’ season nears. WHHS has struggled all year, and Gilmer had little standing in its way.

The Gilmer Bobcats have earned three nonregion soccer victories to begin the season. GHS hosted Gordon Central last Tuesday, and seven combined cards were issued in the match. The Cats netted a pair of goals in the first half and came away with a 2-0 season opening win.
