Lady Cats dispose of West Hall, 77-8

The Gilmer Lady Cats found themselves on both ends of the spectrum when they continued region play. Versus No. 2 ranked Wesleyan last Wednesday, the Wolves took advantage of high percentage shots and built a steady lead throughout.

Clear Creek takes 2nd in mountain league

Clear Creek wrestling brought home a pair of runner-up placements from the league wrestling tournament.  The event was split into traditional and dual sessions, and the CCMS Bobcats were second behind Lumpkin County. For the traditional tournament,  six CCMS wrestlers were crowned champions.

Gilmer attends Calhoun’s NWGA championships

Gilmer High School swam against some of the top teams in the area at the Northwest Georgia Championships. The annual meet was held at Calhoun High School last Saturday and 20 teams made the trip. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats competed in 10 events.

League tourney next for CCMS

Clear Creek returned to the basketball court to wrap up the regular season. The CCMS Bobcats and Lady Cats faced Lumpkin County and Pickens last Wednesday and Thursday and combined for six wins.

Indians snap Bobcats’ 11-year title run

The Lumpkin County Indians accomplished something that has not occurred in over a decade. Gilmer High was one of seven teams at last Saturday’s Area 7-3A duals in Pickens, and for the first time in 11 years, the Bobcats did not walk away as the top team.

Gilmer’s swimmers ring in new year in Dalton

Gilmer High was in Dalton to begin the new year, and the Bobcats and Lady Cats squared off against three other teams. The quad swim meet was held last Thursday, and in addition to the host Catamounts and Gilmer, swimmers from Pickens and Dalton Academy were also in attendance.

Hice nears all-time wins record

North Murray’s Mistletoe Madness beckoned the Gilmer High Bobcats. GHS attended the three-day event last week and came away with two wins. Gilmer took down Coahulla Creek (83-62) Tuesday as J.D. Taylor and Jackson McVey scored 26 and 25 points for Gilmer, respectively.
Gilmer senior Bregan Berry was one of three first-place finishers for the Bobcats last Friday in Armuchee. In addition to his title, Berry achieved his 100th career win.

GHS grapplers take 2nd

Gilmer High received a dose of dual and traditional wrestling ahead of Christmas break. The Bobcats were in Cumming last Tuesday to take on Forsyth Central and Dawson County, and GHS earned respective wins of 48-30 and 64-6.

Cats continue to make strides

The Gilmer High Lady Cats have already matched their win total from a season ago. The Lady Cats attended North Murray’s Mistletoe Madness basketball tournament last week and posted a 2-1 record.  Gilmer met the host Mountaineers Monday and led from start to finish.
