Gilmer Lady Cat soccer outscores opponents, 25-5

Goals have come in bunches for the Gilmer Lady Cats. GHS kicked off its soccer season at home last Tuesday and unleashed a 10-goal barrage on the visiting Gordon Central Warriors. The Cats racked up seven goals in the first half and three more over a shortened second half for a 10-0 win.

Berry wins area championship

Twelve Gilmer Bobcats will continue their wrestling seasons. GHS was one of seven teams at last Saturday’s Area 7-3A traditional wrestling tournament in Lumpkin County, and Bobcat Bregan Berry stood above all in the 132-pound weight class.

9 GHS girls qualify for wrestling sectionals

Five Gilmer High School girls are area wrestling champions. A runner-up and three more placers helped Gilmer finish second as a team at last Saturday’s Area 7 traditional tournament.

Bobcats rock Warriors

The Gilmer Bobcats split with region opponents as the regular season winds down. GHS made its way to White County last Tuesday and ran away with the game from the opening tipoff.

CCMS places 7th at state duals

Clear Creek finished in seventh place at the Middle School Duals State Championships. The event was held in Dexter Jan. 16, and CCMS posted a 3-2 record. Following a first-round bye, Clear Creek downed Fitzgerald, 60-20.

Lady Cats face 2 of Ga’s best teams

The Gilmer Lady Cats spent another week facing some of the best Class 3A has to offer. GHS played two of its final three region basketball games last week, and the Cats were up against No. 5 ranked White County and No. 2 Wesleyan.

The 16 best girls wrestling teams in the state met to decide who would have bragging rights for the next year. The GHSA girls state duals tournament took place last Friday and Saturday at the University of West Georgia. Gilmer High was seeded No.

Bobcat wrestlers set for final stretch of season

Gilmer High was in Jasper for its final traditional wrestling tournament of the regular season. GHS was one of 27 teams at the annual Burnt Mountain Classic last Friday and Saturday.

Bobcats win 2 vs. region

The Gilmer High Bobcats returned to their winning ways versus region opponents. GHS hosted Dawson County last Tuesday and put the Tigers away with a strong-shooting second half for an 81-65 victory. Gilmer was on the road Friday at Lumpkin County.

Clear Creek closed out its basketball season with a pair of runner-up finishes at the league tournament. The CCMS seventh-grade Bobcats hosted White County last Wednesday to decide who was the league’s best.
