GHS Baseball disposes of Lumpkin, Union counties

Gilmer High continued its nonregion baseball slate and picked up two wins. GHS was at home all week, and Lumpkin was in town Tuesday. Bobcat pitchers limited the Indians to five hits, but their two-run fifth evened the score.

Lady Cats demolish LFO, 9-0

The Lady Cats turned the tables on the soccer field for a lopsided win. Gilmer has experienced some growing pains in the early season after losing several impactful players to graduation.

LaFayette ends Bobcats’ basketball season

Gilmer High ended its basketball season in the first round of the region tournament. The No. 5 seeded Bobcats were at Northwest Whitfield last Tuesday to take on the No. 4 LaFayette Ramblers.

Bobcat tennis defeats Dawson

Gilmer High tennis broke in its new courts with a pair of matches. Gilmer’s Chase Little returns a serve and won in straight sets without losing a game last Thursday. Lumpkin County was up first last Tuesday, and the visiting Indians defeated the GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats 5-0.

GHS wrestling ends season on high note

Gilmer High wrestlers returned from the traditional state wrestling tournament with seven medals in tow. GHS was at the Clayton County Convocation Center four consecutive days last week, and the event wrapped up Saturday.

Lady Cats secure state tourney spot

The Gilmer Lady Cats closed out the regular basketball season and secured a state tournament spot in the process. GHS was in LaFayette (17-10) last Tuesday, and the Cats delivered the knockout punch in the fourth quarter.

GHS Baseball aims for third straight state appearance

The Gilmer Bobcats have history on their minds. GHS enters the 2026 baseball season with consecutive trips to the state playoffs, and they are looking to make it three in a row.

Bobcat soccer downs Pickens

The Gilmer Bobcats kicked off their soccer season with a rivalry win. GHS hosted Pickens last Monday and sent the Dragons back to Jasper with a 3-1 loss. They were in Murray County the following day to deliver a 3-1 defeat to the Indians.

LaFayette had too much offense and turnovers did not do the Bobcats any favors in their final game of the regular season. The Ramblers (15-9) hosted the Cats last Tuesday and the issues that have plagued Gilmer this season continued to do so.

Jones, Callihan, Chancey voted all-state

Three Gilmer High football players have been recognized for their standout play on the gridiron. Earning a spot on the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association’s all-state north squad are senior lineman offensive Sam Jones, junior linebacker Douglas Callihan and junior running back Peyton Chancey.
