Gilmer continued its region tennis schedule with two more matches.
GHS hosted Calhoun last Tuesday, and the hometown Bobcats lost 4-1, while the Lady Cats were defeated, 5-0.
Gilmer was at Northwest Whitfield two days later, and the Bruins won the boys and girls matches, 3-2.
No. 1 Alex Miltiades secured Gilmer’s win versus Calhoun and needed three sets. After dropping the first 6-0, he responded with wins of 6-2 and 6-3.
CHS defeated No. 2 singles player Chase Little (6-1, 6-2) and No. 3 Ryker Hice (6-0, 6-4). The Jackets also got wins on the doubles court over No. 1 David Warren and Harper Davenport (6-0, 6-1) and No. 2 Bo Cronic and Aiden McCart (6-0, 6-1).
Calhoun’s girls won in straight sets over No. 1 singles player Mak Taylor (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 Rosalie Blew (6-1, 6-1) and No. 3 Addie Duggan (6-1, 6-1). No. 1 doubles players Chelsey Griggs and Bree Burnette were able to win four games in the first set before dropping the second, 6-1. The No. 2 tandem of Lillian Reece and Autumn Spangler lost 6-0, 6-1.
Match results versus Northwest were not available by press deadline. The Bobcats have a 3-8 overall record and are 1-2 in the region. The Lady Cats are 1-10 and searching for their first region win.
