Region foe Heritage nips GHS Lady Cats, 1-0

The Gilmer Lady Cats continued their soccer season with two more matches. Cherokee (6-1) was in Ellijay last Tuesday and the talented Warriors were continually on the attack. CHS took a healthy lead into the half and ended the game prematurely, 10-0.

Warriors end Cats’ season

The Gilmer Lady Cats’ season came to an end sooner than expected. GHS entered the Class 3A state tournament as the No. 16 seed and hosted No. 17 White County last Tuesday. Open shots were tough to come by for the Cats, but they were still able to overtake the Warriors late in the third period.

Five Cats secure all-region basketball honors

Five Gilmer High School basketball players earned All-Region 7-3A honors. Bobcat junior Preston McVey was named to the first team. Senior Keegen Bryant secured a second-team selection on the boys side. For the girls, Lady Cat Jace Sanderson locked up a first-team spot.

Bobcats split with Rebels on baseball diamond

The Gilmer High Bobcats wrapped up their nonregion baseball schedule against rival Fannin County. They met for two games last week, and the first was Tuesday in Blue Ridge. The Rebels rode the wave of a pair of four-run innings to an 8-5 victory. They squared off in Ellijay two days later.

GHS hosts White Co. to begin state

The state basketball tournament is next for the Gilmer Lady Cats. GHS wrapped up the Region 7-3A tournament last week, and the event began Wednesday versus Ridgeland (22-4). Gilmer won both meetings during the regular season, but this time the Panthers were able to win a low-scoring affair, 44-30.

Glaze turns in letter of resignation

The Sean Glaze basketball era has come and gone. Glaze resigned from his position as Gilmer High School’s boys basketball head coach last Wednesday. He was hired July 2025 and he submitted his letter of resignation the day after the Bobcats’ region tournament loss.

Bobcat soccer smashes LFO

Bobcat soccer added two more wins to its tally. Gilmer High hosted Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe last Tuesday and the Warriors were severely outmatched. The goal barrage started shortly after the match began and did not stop until the final second.
