GHS baseball takes two from Bruins

The Gilmer Bobcats won their second region baseball series in as many weeks. The Cats met Northwest Whitfield (9-12 record) last week, and Gilmer came up with the hits needed in game one Tuesday at home. The Bruins were able to erase the Cats’ early lead, but GHS responded late for an 8-6 win.

Cuz sets new seasonal goal record with 16

Gilmer wrapped up its region soccer schedule and secured another win. The GHS Bobcats faced the previously undefeated Northwest Whitfield Bruins (11-1) last Tuesday. NHS is the region’s top team and they notched a 3-1 win over the Cats.

GHS Lady Cats set new 4x800 record

Gilmer High track continued its season with two more meets. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats joined East Hall at Dawson County last Tuesday. The Lady Cats had multiple top finishes across the meet. Jennifer Garcia won both the 1,600-meter run (5:49.76) and 3,200 (12:22.

GHS tennis wins four matches

It was a successful week for Gilmer tennis as the Cats secured four wins. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats were at home against Adairsville last Tuesday and earned respective wins of 4-1 and 3-2 over the Tigers. Gilmer traveled to Ridgeland Thursday.

Lady Cats wrap up region soccer schedule

The Gilmer Lady Cats were on the field for the final soccer games of their region slate. Gilmer took on Northwest Whitfield (8-6 record) last Tuesday, and the hometown Bruins kept the Cats off the scoreboard for a 3-0 win.

Clear Creek Middle School sets new records on track

Clear Creek joined local teams to deiced who was the best in the Mountain League. The CCMS Bobcats and Lady Cats were at the six-team event at White County Middle School last Friday. Clear Creek came home with eight top placements.The Lady Cats placed third and the Bobcats finished fifth.

The next man stepped up for the Gilmer Bobcats, who won both soccer matches last week. Gilmer was at Adairsville (0-10 record) Tuesday, and the Tigers saw a different Bobcat team.

Bobcat baseball wins first region series of season

Gilmer Bobcats got over the hump for their first region baseball wins of the season. The Cats’ first two region series included four one-run losses. That is how last week’s three-game series started Tuesday at LaFayette.

Lady Cats blank Ridgeland, 4-0

The Gilmer Lady Cats snatched their first region soccer victory. The Cats hosted Ridgeland (2-8 record) last Thursday, maintaining possession almost exclusively in the opening half. Their efforts paid off for a 3-0 lead, and they tacked on a final goal in the second half for a 4-0 win.
