Lady Cats take 6th

The Lady Cats had three wrestlers place on the day with two reaching the finals at the Lady Panther Invitational. Gilmer’s Abelinda Tercero (135 pounds) and Erika Tercero (235) were runners-up for the Cats. Salma Gonzalez was third in the 110-pound division.

Lady Cats roll to 3-0 in region

The Gilmer Lady Cats remain unbeaten in region play. GHS made the trek to Ridgeland last Tuesday and delivered the previously undefeated Panthers a 46-36 loss. Gilmer was at home three days later to host Calhoun (1-4), and the Yellow Jackets were outclassed from the start.

Cats still kings of Hwy. 515

The Gilmer Bobcats maintained their spot above all local wrestling teams. GHS was at Union County High School last Wednesday for the annual Hwy. 515 Classic. The host Panthers and Gilmer were joined by Pickens and Fannin County, and the Bobcats won both matches to defend and retain their crown.

Tercero wins title

The Lady Cats were on the road for another challenging wrestling event. GHS made its way to Jefferson last Saturday for the annual GWCA Girl’s Invitational. Sixteen teams were in attendance, and the Cats placed ninth with 90 points.

Bobcats still looking for consistency

The Gilmer Bobcats continued region basketball action and endured a pair of losses. Gilmer was at Ridgeland last Tuesday, and the Panthers erased the Bobcats’ early lead and won the game at the final buzzer, 63-61. An athletic Calhoun squad was at the GHS gym Friday.

CCMS basketball ends regular season

Ramirez wins Panther title

Gilmer returned to one of the state’s toughest regular-season wrestling tournaments and finished third. The Bobcats were at Jackson County High School last Saturday for the annual Panther Invitational.

Lady Cats snap four-game losing streak

The Gilmer Lady Cats ended their four-game skid with a pair of victories. GHS was on its home court last Tuesday for a nonregion game against Union County. It was the teams’ second meeting of the season, and just like the first, a last-second shot could have altered the outcome.

Bobcats cruise by Adairsville

The Gilmer Bobcats began region play with a solid basketball victory. GHS was in Adairsville last Friday to take on the winless Tigers. Gilmer led comfortably throughout and entered the fourth quarter with a 29-point lead.
