Lady Cats topple Jefferson at state

The Gilmer Lady Cats were one of eight wrestling teams in attendance for the finale of the duals season. Gilmer was seeded No. 3 at the GHSA Division II state duals last Friday at Lumpkin County High School. The Cats fell in their opening-round match to Pierce County, 45-36.

Gilmer Swim in Calhoun for 2 meets

Gilmer High was back in the pool for 2026, and both meets took them to Calhoun. The four-team Region 7-3A championship meet was held last Tuesday. The GHS Lady Cats and Bobcats both placed third in their respective standings.

Bobcats go 4-1 at state, place 3rd

Gilmer Bobcat wrestlers brought home some hardware from state duals. GHS was in Jefferson last Friday and Saturday for the Class 3A tournament and entered the 16-team event as the No. 4 seed.

Lady Cats return to state

The GHS Lady Cats were on the road to take on Putnam Count in the state preliminaries and won, 47-30. GHS was still without two starters because of injury, and several wrestlers had to move up a weight class to fill gaps, according to head coach Stacy Galloway.

Adairsville upsets Lady Cats

The Gilmer Lady Cats are no longer undefeated in the region. Gilmer was at home last Friday against Adairsville (8-11), a team the Cats beat by 39 points in their first meeting of the season.

GHS Bobcats rout Tigers, 81-38

The Gilmer Bobcats added another region win to their tally. GHS hosted Adairsville (2-17) last Friday, and the Tigers hung around for a quarter. The Cats’ offense kept rolling over the final three, and they won easily, 81-38.

No. 7 Lady Cats defend home turf vs. Generals

The Gilmer Lady Cats are on a five-game winning streak and sit atop the region. The Cats hosted region opponent Heritage (13-4) last Friday. The top-10 ranked Generals suffered the same fate as every opponent in the GHS gym this season, as the Cats earned a 55-46 victory.

Bobcats fade in loss to Heritage

The Gilmer Bobcats returned to the basketball court in 2026 and dropped a pair of games. The Cats took on Class 6A Forsyth Central (10-6) last Tuesday. The Bulldogs’ quick start put GHS down early and at the half. Central’s 28 points in the third paved the way for its 75-40 victory.

GHS rolls to region championship

The Gilmer Bobcats have proven once again they are the region’s top dual team. Gilmer was in Fort Oglethorpe last Saturday for the Region 7-3A duals tournament, and the Bobcats were hardly challenged.
