Gilmer High was in Calhoun for its latest track and field meet.
The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats squared off against the host Yellow Jackets, Coahulla Creek, Sonoraville, Northwest Whitfield and Southeast Whitfield last Tuesday.
The Lady Cats racked up 87 points for third, and the Bobcats took fifth on the boys side with 52.
Lady Cat Lilyan Cook kept her season of top performances rolling. In addition to her first-place throw in the discus (109’) she added a third-place heave in the shot put (33’ 9 1/2”).
Jennifer Garcia was No. 1 in distance running events. She placed first in both the 1,600 meter-run (5:52.91) and 3,200 meters (12:37.80). She claimed third in the 800 (2:42.69).
Isabella Evans was second in the 100-meter dash (13.62), and Lauren Smith placed second in the 800 (2:42.62).
The relay teams also found success with the 4x800 team claiming first place with a time of 11:16.18. Both the
4x100 (58.66) and 4x200 (2:00.95) teams took third.
Bobcat Dawson Richard added another solid performance with a second-place finish in the discus at 138’.
The 4x800 relay team earned first with a time of 9:17.55. Maxwell New secured a second-place finish in the 800 at 2:24.15. The 4x100 relay team placed second in 48.29.
