Union hangs on to defeat Bobcats, 7-0

The Gilmer Bobcats’ shortened football season even ended a day early. The game versus Union County was moved to last Thursday because of a referee shortage, and GHS hosted the Panthers for a nonregion matchup to complete its nine-game season.

GHS Lady Cats ready for return to state

The Gilmer High Lady Cats return another veteran group of players to the basketball court. Most of the players who will take the court for the Cats are either returning starters to multiple-year letter winners.

Gilmer Bobcats return experienced squad

Summer is normally the time basketball teams start to focus on the year ahead. COVID-19 practice restrictions made the task nearly impossible this year. Teams were limited to a few weeks of conditioning with minimal preparation spent using basketballs and running scrimmages.

Clear Creek Lady Cats ruin rival Rebels

Clear Creek Middle School’s basketball teams hit the court for rivalry games against the Fannin County Rebels last Monday. The Lady Cats both came out ahead on the day. The seventh graders downed FCMS 39-38 while the eighth-grade Cats won, 41-22.

Team Cartecay bike squads cap their season

The Team Cartecay Bike Squads rolled into Milledgeville Nov. 9 for the Peach State Championships held at the Bartram Trail System.

11U Cats rout War Eagles for title

The 11-under Gilmer Bobcats took the football field for a final time and walked away as the winners once again. Gilmer traveled to Chestatee last Saturday for the Mountain Athletic Conference’s “Super Bowl” and ran all over the War Eagles on their home field.

Lady Cats hold annual scrimmage

The Lady Cats held their Purple and White basketball scrimmages prior to the Bobcats last week.  The Purple Lady Cats built a healthy lead after the first quarter. However, lineups were shuffled for the fourth and the Lady Cat starters took the court as the White squad.

Bobcats take court without 3 starters

The Gilmer High Bobcats took the court after the Lady Cats to showcase some of what is in store for the upcoming basketball season. The scrimmage included Black versus White teams rather than a Purple squad.
