Ret. Col. William Lyles Holder Sr.

Ret. Col. William Lyles Holder Sr., 90, of Ellijay, previously of Marietta, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020, at home with his family.  He was born Oct. 5, 1930, in Nashville, Tenn., to the late Dr. Harry Alfonso and Margaret Pierce Holder.  He graduated from Fletcher High School in Jacksonville, Fla.

Mr. James Edward Lightcap Sr., 70, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2020.  He was born June 15, 1950, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Dutton Steele and Phyllis Irene Nelson Lightcap.  He graduated from Woodlawn High School, class of 1968, and attended the University of Alabama.

Phyllis Irene Nelson Lightcap died April 11, 2018.  She was born Feb. 19, 1922, to the late Zeda Audrey Robinson and Trygve Iver Nelson in Viroqua, Wis. She signed up for the military at the age of 21, and was sent to Fort Oglethorpe for basic training.

Billy “Bill” Wayne Davis, Sept. 5, 1939-Aug. 31, 2020. As a young man, Bill dreamed of driving race cars. In the mid-1960’s he got the opportunity to drive stock cars. After a short time, he got an invitation to drive in the NASCAR arena but having a young family he declined.

Lisa Ann Reece McGhee, 60, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020. She was born Aug. 1, 1960, to Hayward Jackson and Ellen Gladys Weaver Reece, in Ellijay. She was a member of the Orchard Church. She graduated from Gilmer High School in 1978 and was a graduate of Kennesaw State University.

Mrs. Winna Lee Matthews York, 98, of Ellijay died Sunday, Nov. 15,  2020. She was born in Jackson County, N.C. Feb. 20, 1922.  She is preceded in death by daughters, Ann Reynolds and Vonda York. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
