Mrs. Betty Jane Perkerson

Mrs. Betty Jane Perkerson, 63, of Ellijay, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2021. She was born in Ft. Campbell, Ky., June 14, 1957, to the late Maj. Eugene Bowers and Betty Wallace Bowers.  She is preceded in death by sisters, Patti Warren, Kathy Parker and Shirley Tucker.

Michael Timothy McNair Sr.

Mr. Michael Timothy McNair Sr., 70, of Oakwood, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021. He was born May 27, 1950, to the late John McNair and Opal Crowe McNair.  He is preceded in death by brother, Johnny McNair.

Delores Ann Chandler

Delores Ann Chandler, 82, of Viera, Fla., and Ellijay, passed away Thursday,  Dec. 17, 2020, at home in the Indian River Colony Club after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was born June 24, 1938, in Stella, Mo., to Cleo and the late Rex Bryan.

Virginia Anne Dollar Lawson

Virginia Anne Dollar Lawson, 76, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020. She was born Jan. 8, 1944, to James Clifford Dollar and Grace Dollar in Bainbridge.  The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date. 

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Plummer

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Plummer, 83, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020. She was born July 28, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Everett and Rosa Lee Mahaffey Tudor.  She was a high school graduate and worked as an interior decorator.

Roy Winston Tilley

Mr. Roy Winston Tilley, 78, of Cumming, formerly of Ellijay, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020. He was born Jan. 26, 1942, in Gilmer County to the late Louis and Myrtle Martin Tilley.  He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army, retired from Lockheed and was of the Baptist faith.

Ellen Weaver Reece

Ellen Weaver Reece, 91, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.  She was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Atlanta, to the late James Hobert and Izoma Matilda Weaver.  She enjoyed working alongside her husband in the apple business for many years.

Barbara Jo Pierce Sanford

Barbara Jo Pierce Sanford, a retired pharmacy technician and longtime resident of Ellijay, died  Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at the age of 78, due to complications of COVID-19.

Rita Faye Richards

Rita Faye Richards, 65, of Ellijay, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2020. She was born May 29, 1955, in Pickens County, to the late Carl and Bessie Chastain Richards. She was employed by Gilmer County, working at local convenience centers.

William ‘Billy B.’ Hayes

Mr. William “Billy B.” Hayes, 90, of Ellijay, a native of Trion, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at Piedmont Hospital in Ellijay. He was born April 2, 1930, in the Ridgeway Community, to the late James Elbert and Lottie Christol Hayes.   He was Baptist by faith.
