Elliott set for softball at Brewton-Parker

The Gilmer High class of 2022 will be represented at the next level by Taylor Elliott. Elliott is an honor graduate and will attend Brewton-Parker College to play softball for the Barons. She was a three-year varsity starter for the GHS Lady Cats.

Spring football practice ends at Gilmer High

Gilmer High football head coach Paul Standard is pleased with the Bobcats’ efforts during spring practice. GHS wrapped up the 10-day annual event last Wednesday with 67 players on the roster.

GHS Youth summer camps arrive in June

Summer vacation is right around the corner for Gilmer County students. Gilmer High School will kick off its annual slate of summer youth sports camps beginning next month. Cheer camp will be held June 13-16 from 9 a.m. to noon at the gym located at the Larry Walker Education Center.

Taylor McCormick joined elite company with her performance at the state track meet. The Gilmer High School junior proved to be the best high jumper in Class 3A last Thursday in Carrollton.

Phipps, Nicholson resign as Gilmer High soccer HCs

Gilmer High School’s longest tenured soccer coaches have resigned. Simon Phipps spent seven seasons as the Bobcats’ head coach, and April Nicholson led the Lady Cats for 10 years. They helped their respective programs achieve feats that were never previously obtained.

Phipps voted region soccer coach of year

By Robbie Bills Sports Editor   Region 7-3A soccer coaches met at the conclusion of the state playoffs to vote on yearly superlatives. Gilmer High’s Simon Phipps was voted coach of the year following the Bobcats’ 10-5-1 season and third straight trip to the state playoffs.
Gilmer High’s Will Kiker set a new school record in the pole vault at last Saturday’s sectional meet when he cleared 14’. He is a third-generation record holder in the event at GHS.

Kiker, Purvis set new GHS track records

Gilmer High was in Norcross for track sectionals as the state field was decided. The GHS Bobcats and Lady Cats joined half of Class 3A at Greater Atlanta Christian last Saturday.
