Opportunistic Clear Creek mashes Fannin

Prime field position and takeaways helped the Clear Creek Bobcats crush Fannin County. The Bobcats’ defended their home field where the Rebels’ offense was hardly on the field. CCMS took a two-score lead into the half, and the final 16 minutes were much of the same.

Lady Cats blast Generals, 16-4

The Gilmer Lady Cats opened their region softball schedule and enjoyed a 16-run outburst in their victory. GHS and the Heritage Generals dealt with some unruly weather last Tuesday that postponed the game briefly before a steady rain fell over the final two innings.

CCMS softball remains undefeated

Clear Creek softball earned two more league wins. The CCMS Lady Cats were at home for both games last week, and White County was up first Monday. The visiting Warriors found red-hot Cats waiting on them, and CCMS had another strong performance.

GHS volleyball takes 2nd at tourney

Gilmer volleyball players Roxy McVey (14) and Jace Sanderson (33) go up for a block versus Dawson County last Thursday. The Cats defeated Fannin County (2-1) and Chestatee (2-0) and lost to Hart County (2-0) last Saturday in Hall County to place second in a tournament.

Gilmer High XC off and running in Canton

Gilmer was in Canton for their opening meet of the cross-country season. The Fleet Feet Cherokee Classic at Boling Park was held last Saturday and 20 GHS runners were in attendance. All of the Lady Cats point scorers finished inside the top 80. Lambert’s Emily Autry led the way in 12:33.80.

Cats take 3 ahead of region play

The Gilmer Lady Cats snatched two more softball wins in their first full week of the season. GHS played its lone home game last Tuesday against Union County, and pitching and defense were the keys for the Cats once again.

Woodring ready to leave lasting legacy

Payton Woodring has continued to improve during her time at the University of Cincinnati and aims to end her swimming career on a high note. Woodring is a 2022 Gilmer High graduate and was a standout on the swim team during her time as a Lady Cat.
