Cats claw Panthers

Gilmer High volleyball added a region win to their tally. The Lady Cats were at Northwest Whitfield last Tuesday for a pair of region matches. GHS fell to the host Bruins 2-0 and defeated Ridgeland, 2-1.  GHS was at home two days later for nonregion matches against Flowery Branch and Union County.

CCMS defends softball title

Clear Creek is once again Mountain League softball champions. CCMS hosted rival Pickens Monday to decide who was the best, and the Cats made plays at the plate and in the field to prove they are No. 1.

GHS softball enters final week of season

A Monday doubleheader accounted for all of the Gilmer Lady Cats’ games. GHS made the trip to LaFayette last week to continue region play, and the Ramblers won both. Timely hits did not come for the Cats in game one, while the Ramblers scored a run in three separate innings for a 3-0 victory.

CCMS 7th graders reach playoffs

By Robbie Bills  Times-Courier   Clear Creek ended the regular season with two football wins over rival Pickens. The CCMS Bobcats hosted the Dragons last Wednesday. Neither Pickens squad could slow the Bobcats’ ground game, and CCMS eighth graders scored on every possession for a 38-14 victory.

Nuckolls, Bruins fly past Gilmer

The Gilmer Bobcats faced an explosive Northwest offense, and the Bruins raced up and down the field all night. GHS hosted NHS last Saturday instead of Friday because of a referee shortage. Gilmer stumbled out of the gate while the Bruins promptly scored two touchdowns.

GHS Lady Cats win four more region softball games

The Gilmer Lady Cats are in a playoff battle as the softball season winds down. The Cats hosted the Adairsville Tigers last Monday for senior night, and GHS got two wins on the day. Game one was the final two innings of a game originally suspended by weather Aug. 21.

Gilmer High runners were on their home trail against local runners. The annual North Georgia Championships 5K slipped in and out of the woods on Clear Creek Middle School’s campus last Tuesday.

CCMS XC runners on a ‘Warpath’

Clear Creek Middle School runners tested their mettle at the always competitive Warpath Invitational. The annual meet was held Saturday, Sept. 13 in Canton, and the CCMS Lady Cats totaled 198 points for seventh out of 14 teams.

Seventh-grade Bobcats come back to win, 40-38

The CCMS Bobcats continued their league football schedule last Wednesday at Lumpkin County. The Indians won the eighth-grade game, 26-20. “Knox Queen played quarterback because (Alex) Raper is out,” said head coach Willie Dodaro. “They played their hearts out and we absolutely battled.
