Another weekend meant another invitational for Gilmer High cross-country runners.
The Gilmer High Bobcats and Lady Cats were in Forsyth County for the Rangers XC Invitational at Frogtown Trail.
The Lady Cats squared off against 10 other teams and finished fourth with 104 team points. Katie Mullins of Cherokee won the 5K in 21:39.52, and not far behind were Lady Cats Ella Schwartz (4th, 22:33.90), and Jennifer Garcia (5th, 22:47.25).
Crossing the finishing line next for team points were Gilmer’s Allison Hernandez (35th, 25:57.86), Jayla Walker (37th, 26:31.54) and Selina Tercero (50th, 28:06.82).
The Bobcats placed sixth with 173 points. Killian Hill’s Ayaan Surani was the No. 1 boys runner in 17:23.90.
Bobcat Seth Turner finished in 19:23.35 for 10th, and teammate Dawson Richard was right there in 12th at 19:37.70. Next up were Bobcats Leeland Dantin (21st, 20:39.55), Jacob Pantoja (86th, 23:44.31), Edward Marietta (122nd, 25:32.06), Asa Leigh (153rd, 27:36.05) and Daniel Gonzales (185th, 34:18.97).
Remaining Lady Cat runners included Estephany Becerra (52nd, 28:14.79), Melanie Toledo-Guzman (74th, 30:56.46), Braelyn Nolasco-Chun (84th, 31:46.20), Jossely Sanchez-Cecilio (103rd, 33:56.79), Rose Bawihnem (104th, 34:00.75) and Alicia Tercero-Rafael (113th, 34:38.96).
Fideles Christian School was first on the girls side with 57 points, and Centennial (97) and Lanier Christian Academy (106) made up the top three. Fideles was the top boys team as well over Gainesville, 49-60, and St. John Bosco Academy (84) was third.
GHS will make its way to Canton’s Boling Park Saturday for the annual Warpath Invitational.
