Gilmer cages Wildcats, 28-14

The city boys made their way to the mountains and returned to Tuxedo Park with a country whooping. Gilmer High welcomed Westminster to Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium last Friday, and the visiting Wildcats were merely a speed bump for the Bobcats’ rushing attack.

CCMS volleyball wins league championship

Clear Creek Middle School volleyball defeated Union County last week for the Mountain League championship and ended the season with a 13-1 record.

JV Bobcats outlast White Co., 42-38

The junior varsity matchup between the Gilmer Bobcats and White County had no shortage when it came to offensive production. GHS had a bevy of backs to bolster its option offense, which built leads in both halves.

GHS XC runs at Warpath

Gilmer High cross-country was in Canton for the Annual Warpath Invitational. The GHS Lady Cats snatched sixth place in the field of 14, while the Bobcats placed 11th out of 17 boys teams last Saturday.  Ella Schwartz continued her strong season, and turned in a sixth-place time of 21:14.

CCMS hosts meet

Local teams were in town for the annual Mountain League Championships. Clear Creek Middle School hosted the meet last Monday and eight teams were in attendance.  For the Lady Cats, Lakelyn Garrett led the way in eighth place (15:52.

CCMS 7th graders thump Towns

Clear Creek seventh graders are 2-0 on the season with their latest victory. The Bobcats hosted Towns County last Wednesday. Possessions were limited with the Bobcats’ time-consuming drives, and TCMS did not do nearly enough with its offense to keep pace with the Cats.

GHS softball heads south for 3 wins

Gilmer High softball had a good weekend on the diamond to earn three nonregion victories. The Lady Cats made the nearly 170-mile trip to Harris County and took on King’s Ridge Christian last Friday.
