Mr. Billy C. Helton, 83, of Cherry Log, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020. He was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Gilmer County, to the late Jess and Jessie Whitener Helton.  He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Air Force and of the Baptist faith.

Miss Pauline Ellis

Miss Pauline Ellis,  91, of Roswell, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020. She was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Gilmer County to the late Millard and Viola Weaver Ellis.  She was a retired executive with the Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company and of the Baptist faith.

Kevin Patrick Faris Sr.

Mr. Kevin Patrick Faris Sr., 64, of Ellijay, passed away after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. He was born at Harpal’s Maternity Home May 31, 1955, in Coupeville, Wash., to Emerson and Kathleen Clark Faris.

Hollis A Reece Sr.

Mr. Hollis A. Reece Sr., 79, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020. He was born Dec. 6, 1940, in Gilmer County, to the late Arthur and Dester Burrell Reece. He was a truck driver for over 50 years and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.   He is preceded in death by wife, Lorene Mulkey Reece.

Ralph Leroy ‘Butch’ Poole

Mr. Ralph Leroy ‘Butch’ Poole, 76, of Ellijay, is now playing with God’s holy rock and roll band. He entered into the arms of his loving Savior Tuesday, Jan., 14, 2020. He was born April, 17, 1943, to Helen Alexander and Ralph M. Poole in Greenwood, Miss. He served in the U.S.

Royce Medlin

Mr. Royce Medlin, 72, of Ellijay, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2020. He was born Jan. 14, 1948, in Gilmer County, to the late Bill and Inez Coram Medlin. He was a retired textile worker and a member of the Gospel Temple Baptist Church.

Mrs. Patricia Rose Welch

Mrs. Patricia Rose Welch, 85, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020. She was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Augusta, Kan., to the late John Herman and Georgia Marie Watkins Gray.  She was a housewife and mother and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ruby Lee Sales

Mrs. Ruby Lee Sales, 54, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020. She was born Sept. 11, 1965, in Murray County, to the late William Herman and Betty Sue Coram Goble. She attended Gilmer High School, was a rock mason and a member of River Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Gates Abee

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Gates Abee, 97, of Valdese, N.C., passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care following a period of declining health. Born on July 22, 1922, in Ellijay, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Franklin Gates and Tamer Sumner Gates.

Blaine Free

Mr. Blaine Free, 86, of Cherry Log, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2020. He was born May 10, 1933, in Fannin County, to the late Homer and Mary Bearden Free. He was a farmer.  He is preceded in death by siblings, Bonnie Aaron, Charlie Free, James Free, Gladys Long and Eunice Weaver.
