Mr. Hollis A. Reece Sr., 79, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020.

He was born Dec. 6, 1940, in Gilmer County, to the late Arthur and Dester Burrell Reece. He was a truck driver for over 50 years and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.  

He is preceded in death by wife, Lorene Mulkey Reece.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Art and Natalie Reece, of Canton, Marc Reece, of Ballground; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Benny Burgess, of Ellijay; sister and brother-in-law, Ernestine and Carl Clark, of Ellijay; grandchildren, Daniel and Crystal Hyatt, Heather Taylor, Alex Taylor, Corey Reece and Mac Reece; great-grandchildren, Reece Hyatt, Millie Hyatt, Logan Taylor, Grayson Taylor and Landon Taylor; special caregivers with Compassus Hospice, Kelly Webster, Perry Chastain, Amanda Bryan and Laura Huff.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Hyatt, the Rev. Michael Smith and the Rev. Cecil Townley officiating. 

Music was by Patsy Davenport and Stephanie Brewer. 

Pallbearers were Jerry Farist, Alvin Reece, Dan Reece, Brent Pierce, John Penland, Steve Wells and Scott Garland.

Honorary pallbearers were Carl Clark, Roy Bryan, Vernie Grant, Raymond Moon and Billy Bernhardt

Interment was in the Oak Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
