Algia Smith Tarrer, age 72, of Dallas, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2020. She was a long-time member of Concord Baptist Church. She retired from the United States Treasury after over 30 years of service. She was a hardworking, loving person with a huge heart and a soft spot for children.

The Rev. Ernest “Junior” Paul Luttrell, 88, of Ellijay, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, at his residence.  He was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Austell, to the late Ernest Paul Sr. and Rosetta Martin Luttrell. He was an ordained Baptist minister and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

Beloved local artist, Eve Smith, passed away Jan. 6, 2020, due to complications from diabetes.  She is survived by husband, Lonnie; children, Joe and Molly; grandchildren, Ben, Sid, Frank and Grace; and great-grandchildren, Diana, Leon and Madeline. A private service was held.

Mr. Carew Messer, 81, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020. He was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Hindman, Ky., to the late Alfred and Nannie Holland Messer. He worked in construction.  He is preceded in death by longtime companion, Pauline Tracy; and a host of other family members.

Mrs. Linda Rice Weaver, 69, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020. She was born June 19, 1950, in Cherokee County, to the late Lloyd and Lucille Wright Rice. She was a 1969 graduate of Gilmer High School, and worked as a bookkeeper for Covenant Community Church.
