CCMS eighth-grade Bobcats blast Union

Clear Creek Middle School hit the basketball court for league matchups against White and Union counties. The seventh-grade Lady Cats were in Union County last Thursday and won in overtime, 48-40.

‘Doggone lucky’ Trojans slip by Cats

The Gilmer High Bobcats nearly pulled an improbable upset in the first round of the football state playoffs. GHS was seeded No. 28 in the playoff field of 32 teams and traveled to No. 5 North Hall last Friday.

Bobcats’ roster rehauled

The Gilmer High Bobcats will look quite a bit different on the basketball court this season. Gilmer graduated two tall guards in Ryder Wofford and Kohan Davis while center Jackson McVey transferred for his senior season.

GHS Lady Cats have high hopes for season

With David Dowse at the helm, the Gilmer High Lady Cats have renewed expectations for the 2024-25 basketball season. Dowse is a veteran coach and is eight months into his first year with the program. He got acquainted with players in the spring and summer months.

Gilmer cheerleaders have best performance of year

Gilmer High School cheerleaders fell just short of qualifying for state. GHS was at West Laurens High School Nov. 9 for the annual region and sectional competition, and a top 16 placement was needed to secure a state spot.

GHS Swim season continues

Gilmer High swimmers were in Adairsville for their second event of the season. The Thankful to Compete meet was held last Saturday, and the Cats scored points on nine occasions. Gilmer’s best finish was fifth place in the girls 400-yard freestyle relay.

CCMS goes undefeated on week

Clear Creek Middle School basketball was on the court for league matchups versus Pickens and Dawson County and went undefeated last week.   Bobcats Clear Creek’s perfect week began last Monday at home.

Noah Harris Wrestling Center opens

The Noah Harris Wrestling Center was full for its first night of action. The newly-transformed facility at the Larry Walker Education Center opened its doors last Tuesday for Gilmer High School’s annual Purple and White Alumni Night.

3 Gilmer Lady Cats recognized by region

All-Region 7-3A softball teams have been announced, and three Gilmer High Lady Cats were recognized. Lady Cat Sarah Dale was voted to the first team, and fellow sophomore Jaylee McDaniel was selected to the second team. Junior Lily Fortune received an all-region honorable mention.
